No more fishnets and feather boas for Bette Midler. At 51, the once outrageously dressed Miss M now favors monochromatic ensembles in luxurious fabrics that look absolutely divine. "She definitely knows her body, and that's the key to any style," says Hollywood costume designer Deena Appel. "Her clothes suit her shape and her personality. She's radiant." Fortunately, Midler's fabulous fashion sense hasn't come at the expense of her sense of humor. Her fondness for vivid colors proves that "she still has fun with her clothes," says fashion commentator Barbara Smith. Midler also knows when to rein herself in. As MTV's Kennedy points out, she "never gets too carried away." Designer Kate Spade agrees, boiling down Midler's style to four words: "She keeps it simple."
