Even if The X-Files moves from Vancouver to Los Angeles so David Duchovny can be closer to his wife, Téa Leoni (PEOPLE, Oct. 13), she still won't let him watch her show The Naked Truth. Duchovny was recently overheard by a source of mine saying that Leoni, who now sports darker hair in a look that will soon turn up on her show, does not want her husband to see her sitcom and even calls him in Vancouver on Monday nights, when The Naked Truth airs on NBC, to make sure he's not watching. It's no secret that Leoni's show has experienced problems since it first debuted on ABC in 1995. Leoni's rep acknowledges that the star "is not happy" with the Truth, explaining that "the show has switched nights and has been revamped twice. This has been a stressful and difficult time for her." Nevertheless, Duchovny remains a fan. "I still manage to see the show," my source heard him say. "I think she's a comic genius."...
Who could convince Bette Midler, Whoopi Goldberg, Lily Tomlin, Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, Elizabeth Taylor, Florence Henderson, Shirley MacLaine, Carol Burnett, Paul Reiser and Cher to appear in the same movie? The answer is comedy writer Bruce Vilanch, who for many years has scripted material for them, usually uncredited, when they appeared at awards shows and benefits. Get Bruce, a comic documentary starring Vilanch and featuring cameos by all of the above, just finished shooting in L.A. The movie's title track, written by Michael Feinstein, will be sung by Ann-Margret. The film's director Andrew Kuehn and Vilanch's longtime manager, coproducer Joan Hyler, hope to have Get Bruce ready in time for the Sundance Film Festival in January....
Busy talk show host Leeza Gibbons, whose third child, Nathan Daniel, was born on Oct. 3 (joining daughter Lexi, 8, and son Troy, 5), is going into the Mommy and Me business with Florida psychologist Cindy Nurik, a longtime proponent of the popular developmental program that teaches parents how to better interact with their young children. In a deal orchestrated by producer Seth Ersoff, Gibbons and Nurik will unveil a Mommy and Me handbook in the spring, possibly followed by a Mommy and Me TV special and even a Mommy and Me newspaper column. Whew! All this, and they'll even make room for Daddy.
