Coleman Young, 79, one of the first African-Americans to become mayor of a big city, died from respiratory and heart problems on Nov. 29 in Detroit, where he served five terms beginning in 1974....
Paula Yates, 37, the girlfriend of late INXS lead singer Michael Hutchence, 37, who was found hanged in a Sydney hotel room Nov. 22, reportedly saw an early coroner's report on his death. According to Yates, it indicated substantial amounts of drugs and alcohol in his blood.
At a New York City music store on Dec. 1, musician Kenny G, 41, using a special breathing technique, set a world record by playing one continuous note, an E-flat, on a saxophone for 45 minutes and 47 seconds.
