At the Sundance Film Festival, a busy William H. Macy (A Civil Action) bemoaned the fact that he hasn't been able to see enough of actress Felicity Huffman (Sports Night), his bride of a year and a half. Recently, while filming Mystery Men, Macy worked nights and went for days at a stretch without even seeing his wife. One morning he came home at around 5:30, poured himself a little Scotch and went to his desk to answer some mail. When he heard Huffman's alarm go off, he made coffee for her and climbed into bed. "While I drank Scotch, she drank coffee," says Macy. "Then I kissed her goodnight. She went off to work, and I climbed into the warm spot and went to sleep. That's a lovely actor moment."
It's not easy being Madonna's brother-in-law, as Billy Bob Thornton revealed when he pretended to be Joe Henry, the singer-songwriter who is married to Madonna's sister Melanie. In a mock interview on Henry's soon-to-be-released CD, Fuse, the real Henry asks Thornton, his longtime friend, what it's like having Madonna as a sister-in-law. Replies Thornton: "I didn't use her to further my career. I thought about it, believe me. There were times when I was eating [out], and I was barely able to tip the waitress. When I thought, 'Golly, Madonna's just sitting there in that big house, and here I am eating beans and wienies.' " Says the real Henry: "There are times when I get tired of people asking questions about Madonna, and I'm sure there are times when she gets tired of answering questions about me."
At the recent Tourette Syndrome Association awards gala in Los Angeles, presenter Robin Williams got cheeky with Jann Goldsby, a language signer hired for actress Camryn Manheim's escort, Anthony Natale, who is hearing impaired. Yucking it up during the ceremony, Williams told Goldsby, "I want you." Goldsby signed back, "I want you too." Later, according to Goldsby, she playfully confronted Williams, telling him, "I have hundreds of witnesses who heard you say, 'I want you!' Now, do I move north or do you move here?" Replied Williams, who lives in the San Francisco Bay area: "I'll leave a message on your machine."
James Cameron, Ben Stiller and Melissa Joan Hart are among celebs who will race in souped-up Celicas at the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race at the Long Beach Grand Prix in April. The event—benefiting children's hospitals—is not for the faint-hearted: Each person must commit to four days of training with professional racers, a full day of practice at the track and two days of racing, in which they travel at speeds up to 130 mph. Even so, Toyota has no trouble getting participants. Stiller and Hart volunteered before invitations were sent out, and rapper Coolio RSVP'd yes within a day of being asked.
