Seeking Peace as Watergate Closed In
Two months before leaving the White House in disgrace, President Richard M. Nixon met Egyptian President Anwar Sadat (right) in Cairo. Sadat's quest for peace with Israel would lead him to Jerusalem and to the 1979 Camp David Accords with Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin, with whom he shared the Nobel Peace Prize. It would also cost Sadat his life: Muslim extremists assassinated him in 1981.

Prince Performs
As part of his grooming for the crown—a process that continues today—Prince Charles, 25, addressed the House of Lords on June 13, the first royal to do so in 90 years.

A Boy, a Shark
Steven Spielberg, 27, was directing Jaws on Martha's Vineyard this week. The film would dampen beach business the following summer but make theater owners very happy—eventually grossing $260 million.
