Touched as she was when the earnest young man asked for her daughter's hand in marriage Dec. 23, Priscilla Presley still couldn't help but tweak her future son-in-law. "So," she asked him, as she later related on Entertainment Tonight, "how do you plan on supporting her? He was, 'Well, uh...uh...' "

Hawaiian-born John Oszajca, 25, might be forgiven a little hemming and hawing. After all, his fiancée is Elvis's only child and sole heir, Lisa Marie Presley, 32, whose fortune is estimated to be $100 million.

But that won't stop Oszajca—who met Lisa Marie through friends last May in Los Angeles—from singing for his supper. Like her two ex-husbands, Danny Keough—father of her children Danielle, 10, and Benjamin, 7—and Michael Jackson, Oszajca is a singer-songwriter, whose solo debut album, From Here to There, is due out in April.

The couple has yet to set a date, but it's clear that Lisa Marie hopes—four years after telling Jackson to beat it—that the third time will be her last. "The second marriage was a mistake, everyone knows," says attorney John P. Coale, who handled her divorce from the gloved one. "But I think she'll be happy with this guy."

At the Sundance Film Festival in January, where Oszajca played two sold-out shows at Park City, Utah, clubs, Lisa Marie planted many public smooches on her guy. But she's still her secretive daddy's girl: "We're so darn proud," says future father-in-law John Sr. from the Oahu home he shares with artist-wife Linda. "But they don't want us to talk to anyone about it, not one thing, nothing."
