For Christian Slater and Ryan Haddon, their Feb. 12 wedding was a blend of old-style glamor, New Age spirituality and hard-earned redemption. Just 2½ years after he was arrested during a cocaine-and-booze binge for assaulting his then-girlfriend and biting another man, Slater, 30, stood with Haddon, 29, in a rose-filled courtyard of the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills before 150 relatives and pals, including Mike Myers and Rob Lowe. The Armani-tuxed actor had carried the couple's 10-month-old son, Jaden, down the aisle to the strains of the Star Wars theme; Haddon, in Vera Wang, was escorted by maternal grandfather Ed Haddon—to the more conventional strains of Wagner's "Bridal Chorus." With Conversations with God author Neale Donald Walsch presiding over the non-denominational ceremony, the couple exchanged red and white roses, then rings. As mementos, guests received (in addition to Walsch's book) packets of forget-me-not seeds to plant in memory of their union. "You felt like you were in their home," said actress Susan Blakely, once the roommate of Haddon's mom, '70s model Dayle Haddon, 51, "because they were so comfortable. You could see that they were two people madly in love and the parents of a child."

And ready to entertain: During the reception, the exuberant Slater clambered onstage to belt out two tunes—"The Best Is Yet to Come" and "Luck Be a Lady"—as a surprise for his bride, a former TV producer whom he met hiking in Malibu a couple of years ago. "Ryan went nuts," says wedding planner Mindy Weiss. "It took her breath away."
