City of Angels doc Blair Underwood knows how to show compassion in real life too: At Coley's, a Jamaican restaurant in Inglewood, Calif., Underwood and his two children were being shown to his regular table when he overheard a woman telling the hostess that she had been waiting ahead of him with her 3-year-old son. Underwood gallantly stepped in to tell the lady she could have his table—or join him and his son and daughter there. She gladly accepted the latter option.
Tommy Mottola didn't get to be the head of Sony Music by leaving anything to chance. So when he felt a thirst coming on at the trendy East Hampton, N.Y., eatery Delia Femina, the ex-Mr. Mariah Carey
handed the waiter a printed card that read, "Bombay Sapphire martini, straight up, very cold, in and out, with an olive, stirred not shaken." Delia Femina maître d' Walter Strubel approved. "All our customers should come in with the cards," he said. "It makes it easier for us."
Friends got a scare when Elizabeth Taylor suddenly tripped and fell at a July 4 party at the Malibu home of producer Jonathan Axelrod and his wife, actress llleana Douglas. Although paramedics were called to the scene, the indomitable Taylor felt well enough to wave them off and had her bodyguard drive her home instead.
Rosanna Arquette and West Hollywood restaurateur John Sidel, who few people know broke up more than a year ago, are talking about making the split formal. It would mark Arquette's third divorce. But the couple, who married in 1993 and have a daughter, Zoe, 5, still hang out at the same parties.
