Bravo to Julia, Renée and Catherine for their glamor and grace on Oscar night. That is what America loves from our stars! However, I have to say "Shame on you, Jennifer Lopez!" Who let her out of the house? Put some clothes on!

Whatever happened to dressing with elegance and class for an event as important as the Oscars? The casualness of Tom Cruise and Sarah Jessica Parker was lamentable, but Jennifer Lopez and Pamela Anderson take the cake. Their entire fashion statement consists of "Look at these!" Personally, I've seen enough of their boobs.

I find it mind-boggling that in accepting her Oscar, Julia Roberts did not acknowledge Erin Brockovich or the people Brockovich represented in the case against PG&E. To say she forgot isn't good enough. She was the odds-on favorite to win as Best Actress, and this omission indicates she is just another star with a huge ego, far removed from the common people.

I feel Russell Crowe is being blackballed by the media, including PEOPLE'S article covering the after-Oscars parties. So what that he went to one party, then back to his hotel room? He went to the Oscars, dressed nicely and made a very sincere acceptance speech. If he doesn't want to party with the Hollywood set, that's okay. Don't we try to teach our children to listen to their own hearts and to be leaders and not followers?

While I applaud Matthew Perry for dealing with his substance abuse, I find it outrageous that he may be supplied by his studio with a "shadow" to ensure that he stays clean and sober. I have always understood that a person's recovery depends on that person alone; no one can make him get sober.

Let me get this straight. Michigan Rep. Bart Stupak and his wife, Laurie, agree to have a high school after-prom party at their house. Then they check into a motel and leave an older brother in charge of underage, drinking teenagers, with Mrs. Stupak's handgun in a bedside table. Now they want to blame the manufacturer of the acne medication Accutane because their son shot himself? While my heart goes out to them, they must look in the mirror before assigning blame somewhere else.

Having taken Accutane while in high school about three years ago, I know a little bit about the drug and its side effects. Mixing alcohol and Accutane is a huge no-no, and that is exactly what was done in the case of B.J. Stupak. I also wonder why Accutane should be blamed when this terrible tragedy could have been easily avoided. Accutane doesn't kill—guns kill.

I too suffered from acne and depression as a teenager, but my despair was caused by the appearance of my skin, and Accutane was the cure. Many people dismiss acne simply as a rite of passage. After many years of failed treatment my doctor finally prescribed Accutane for me, and within weeks I looked and felt like a different person. I feel sorry for the Stupak family. At the same time, I hope that more research will be done to determine the actual impact Accutane has on emotional health before young people are denied access to it.
