If trendsetters like Elizabeth Hurley and Ivana Trump are feeling all warm and fuzzy lately, chalk it up to the precious pelts lining their cool denim jackets. "This is one item that says, 'Have fun!' "says Manhattan stylist Sharon Pendana of the durable duds designers such as Roberto Cavalli and Dolce & Gabbana have embellished with fur. The resulting look "combines the casualness of denim with the luxury of mink," notes The View's Star Jones. In November she called upon celebrity furrier Dennis Basso to create a toasty sable lining for her cropped denim jacket, and now, she says, "Barbara Walters liked mine so much, she's having one made." Even guys like Robert Downey Jr. and Adrien Brody can't resist the chic combo. And they don't have to, says L.A. stylist Cary Fetman. "The man who opts for this jacket refuses to be hemmed into looking strictly masculine," he says. "It's the yin-yang contrast that's really appealing."

Don't call Uma Thurman an impulse buyer. Just days before delivering her second child on Jan. 15 (see page 81), the actress marched hubby Ethan Hawke over to the New York City interior-design emporium ABC Carpet & Home to review a furniture purchase. Clutching a tiny black-and-white dog, Thurman stationed Hawke in front of an antique bookcase and was overheard reciting the line that couples have exchanged ever since cave dwellers got the decorating bug: "I just wanted to get your final approval before I bought it!" An amiable debate ensued, but Hawke finally relented, and Thurman's books got a home....
Singer Macy Gray popped into Santa Monica jewelry boutique Rafinity recently to snag a quick gift for her mother. But the raspy-voiced warbler ended up splurging on some $10,000 worth of trinkets for herself, including black- gold hoop earrings with 12 carats of diamonds and sapphires and a chunky, flower-shaped gold ring with a precious stone in each petal. No, Tara Reid didn't just pay a visit to the ladies' room. But the micro minidress the American Pie 2 actress chose last week for a Hollywood party did appear to leave something behind. "I think it was supposed to be a bow," says L.A. stylist Brenda Cooper, "which would have been very cute, but it has gone south and looks like toilet paper!"
