On Jan. 14 in Vancouver, Wash., Dale E. Anderson, 29, the landlord of disgraced Olympic skating star Tonya Harding, 31, filed a lawsuit seeking to evict his tenant and recoup more than $5,000 in back rent and expenses. Anderson claims that Harding, who was involved in the knee-whacking attack on rival Nancy Kerrigan in 1994, has not paid rent on a three-bedroom home since October.
Citing adultery, Dr. Monica Tyson, 35, a pediatrics resident at Georgetown University Medical Center, filed for divorce from former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson, 35, on Jan. 17 in Rockville, Md. The couple, who wed in 1997, met while Tyson was serving a rape sentence in an Indiana prison. The doctor will have custody of their two children, Rayna, 5, and Amir, 4.

On Jan. 16 in Sacramento, five former members of the Symbionese Liberation Army, the radical leftist group who kidnapped heiress Patty Hearst in 1974, were charged with murdering Myrna Opsahl, 42, during a 1975 bank holdup in Carmichael, Calif. Police arrested Bill Harris, 57, Emily Harris, 54, and Mike Bortin, 53. James Kilgore, 54, remains at large. On Jan. 18 in L.A., Sara Jane Olson, 55, pleaded innocent to these charges, minutes after being sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for her role in a plot to bomb L.A. police cars in 1975 (PEOPLE, July 26, 1999).
On Jan. 18 in Miami, music mogul Emilio Estefan Jr., 48, and his wife, pop star Gloria Estefan, 44, were granted a temporary restraining order against Venezuelan actor and singer Juan Carlos Diaz, 27, who days earlier had alleged that Emilio made unwanted sexual advances and threatened him. Estefan denies the charges and claims that Diaz followed him on the beach and came to his house uninvited.
Tina Brown, the cofounder and editor-in-chief of Talk magazine, announced on Jan. 18 that the February issue would be the last. The glitzy general-interest monthly debuted in August 1999 with great fanfare and the financial backing of Miramax Films and the Hearst Corp. Brown, 48, blamed the publication's demise on a poor advertising market and fallout from Sept. 11.
Lani O'Grady, who played Mary in the 1970s hit Eight Is Enough, died of a drug overdose, the L.A. County Coroner's office said on Jan. 16. The 46-year-old actress was found dead in her mobile home four months ago (PEOPLE, Oct. 15, 2001). High levels of the antidepressant Prozac and the painkiller Vicodin were found in her system, but the coroner did not rule if her death was an accident or suicide....
Accused "shoe bomber" Richard Reid, 28, who was arrested on Dec. 22 after allegedly trying to blow up an American Airlines flight with explosives hidden in his sneakers (PEOPLE, Jan. 14, 2002), pleaded innocent to nine criminal counts, including attempted murder, on Jan. 18 in Boston. Reid could face up to five life sentences.
Fashion icon Stanley Marcus, 96, died in Dallas on Jan. 22. During a 50-year career at Neiman Marcus, the chairman emeritus helped make the high-end department store chain, founded by his father and aunt in 1907, world-famous.
