On Feb. 19 a jury in L.A. ruled that soul singer James Brown, 68, did not sexually harass former employee Lisa Ross Agbalaya, 36, who alleged that she was dismissed in 1999 after rejecting Brown's sexual advances. The singer says he never touched her and that he closed the West Coast office where she worked because it wasn't making money. Jurors did find that Brown's music company wrongfully fired Agbalaya, and they will determine damages.

Pauline Trigere, 93, whose impeccably tailored dresses and coats made her one of the world's leading designers, died of undisclosed causes at her Manhattan home on Feb. 13. The outspoken French-born fashion pioneer was the first designer to hire a black runway model in 1961....
New Zealand actor Kevin Smith, 38, best known as Ares, Xena's love interest on the cult TV series Xena: Warrior Princess, died of severe head injuries in a Beijing hospital on Feb. 16. Nine days earlier the actor fell off a tower on a production set where he was filming a movie....
Character actor Guy Stockwell, 68, who appeared in hundreds of TV series episodes and nearly 30 films, including 1965's The Warlord, died of undisclosed causes on Feb. 6 in Prescott, Ariz. The older brother of actor Dean Stockwell, he was also instrumental in creating the Los Angeles Art Theater.

Police officers responding to a 911 call early Feb. 14 found the body of limousine driver Costas Christofi, 55, in a bedroom of the New Jersey estate of former NBA star Jayson Williams, 33. According to prosecutors, Christofi was apparently shot once through the chest. The medical examiner ruled the death was not a suicide. An investigation is ongoing.

Action star Pierce Brosnan, 49, will be sidelined for two weeks after injuring his knee Feb. 15 while shooting his latest (as yet untitled) James Bond movie. Producers said the accident, at an undisclosed location in England, took place "during an action sequence involving water." Brosnan, who may undergo surgery, plans to return to work on March 4.
