Robert Blake
I feel sorry for Robert Blake. The way he seems to care for his child, I can tell that this is not a cold-blooded murderer. Robert Blake is a man who went over the edge, and Bonny Bakley took him there.
Paul Dale Roberts, Elk Grove, Calif.

Robert Blake tries to come across as the good dad, hugging his baby at the funeral and looking sad. The only thing that he should be sad about is that his child will never see her mother again.
Veronica Gipson, Elk River, Minn.

You are holding Blake's wife responsible for her own death with your cover headline. How dare you!
Alescandra Pastuszek, Folsom, La.

Has Robert Blake ever heard of the word divorce? He should have picked that as his final answer.

Vicki Hufnagel
I don't know how anyone could feel sorry for someone who puts their life in the hands of a surgeon who has been stripped of her license to practice medicine. They knew about Dr. Hufnagel at the onset. Wake up, people.
Pat Harris, San Jose, Calif.

Dabney Coleman
I received your issue that had the interesting article about Dabney Coleman. I've always enjoyed his performances, but this time reading about him has brought new hope—hope regarding the drug treatment for his age-related macular-degeneration eye condition, which my father also has. Thanks for your magazine's hard work.

Douglas Durand
Although Douglas Durand's efforts did help make the government aware of some of the games pharmaceutical companies play, he does not need to receive $79 million. Nobody needs that much money. I do things every day that are much better examples of the morals Mr. Durand was raised on, and I don't get a dime!
Lisa Herrington, Lakewood, Colo.

Your article failed to give credit to our clients Dr. Joseph Gerstein and Tufts Health Plan and their whistle-blower lawsuit in Boston as the catalysts in the investigation that resulted in the settlement against TAP Pharmaceutical Products. Without Tufts, Dr. Gerstein, whose efforts included having his office wired by the government, and the work of two assistant U.S. attorneys in Boston, the fraud case of Douglas Durand filed in Philadelphia would not have had a happy ending.

Catholic Church
The Catholic Church doesn't need to decide what to do with priests who have committed crimes. The local authorities do. The offending person should be placed in custody. Why should priests or the church receive preferential treatment?

Le Ann Carlson and Denise Gaskill
My daughter Laura is 9 years old and has had Type 1 diabetes for four years. It was always a struggle for her to wear a medical-alert bracelet, because she thought they were ugly and bothersome. Now she enjoys wearing her cool piece of jewelry created by Le Ann Carlson and Denise Gaskill. Bracelets like these make life a little brighter.

Charlye Cuby
I was touched by your story about Charlye Cuby and the loss of her savings and job at Polaroid. Being a mother of two sons, I too know how much she wants for them.
Janice Bentley, Tucson, Ariz.

Laura Branigan
I am happy to see that the days of physical and emotional pain are fading for Laura Branigan and that she is ready to record again. Anyone who has met her will tell you that she is sincere. The spandex and disco ball may be gone, but the incredible voice is as moving as ever. No singer can tell the story of a song the way Laura Branigan can.
Melanie Villaras, Lowell, Mass.

Tom Day
I would like to thank you for the story about Tom Day and his group Bugles Across America. When my father, who had been in the Navy, died, the funeral-parlor director told my mother that "Taps" would have to be heard from a CD player. She put her foot down and said, "My husband didn't give 25 years of his life to this country to be put to rest by a CD." It took five weeks to find a bugler to play at his interment. That music was the most special part of it all.
