Who Took These Girls?
Thank you for the story about Miranda Gaddis and Ashley Pond. I hope your coverage will result in some leads. As a mother of three girls, I cannot even begin to understand the suffering the girls' moms are encountering every minute that their questions go unanswered.
Laura Caldera Taylor, Portland, Ore.
I have a 16-year-old daughter and I worry every single day about her safety. What I can't fathom is why the school did not call someone when the girls did not show up. Don't schools do that anymore?
Valerie Sanford, Oldsmar, Fla.
I can't help but think that if someone knew sooner that these girls were missing, there would be a better chance of finding them.

I was thrilled to see an article about Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah. My husband and I have been supporting them for two years. I think Michael Mountain has created a wonderful thing. More shelters need to follow his lead and not kill innocent animals.
Nicole Crawford, Cairo, Mo.
In this world full of jerks, creeps and people who are mean to the bone, it was terrific to read about Michael Mountain and his Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. I just added Mr. Mountain to my (small) list of heroes.

Rita Milla Rita Milla was a college student, not a child, who worked at a job where the priest who had previously sexually abused her was a pastor. She later claims that she engaged in sex with seven other priests and then decided to press charges against them. There is something wrong with this picture. For Milla to say that she had sex with these priests only because she was taught to be obedient is absurd.

I just finished reading your article, and I was appalled but not surprised. It appears to be just another example of the out-of-control manner in which the Catholic Church has allowed itself to slip.

How unfortunate that one goes to a physician with trust and comes out cheated. Dr. Thomas Abell claims his medical care for Tonya Oliver's LASIK surgery was appropriate and everything was done correctly, but now she is legally blind in the left eye, with deteriorating sight in the right one. In time Tonya may forgive, but she will never forget.
Carlos Boileve, Chicago, Ill.
While I feel for the people who had a bad experience with LASIK, my husband and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about it. My advice to anyone is: Do research, become educated and make the right decision for yourself.

As a sister of an EMT-firefighter, I admire the strength and courage of these young women. For them to be able to give to their community and still stay focused on school and their goals is incredible. Hats off to Chief Pete Brown for being such an amazing role model. We definitely need more people like him in this world. Meaghan Cathey, Los Angeles, Calif.
To call Stephen Bing charming and sexy after allegedly impregnating two women seems ridiculous. It appears the only thing this man has going for him is his family's money.

I just finished reading the article about the three friends from Newark, N.J., who stuck together and became doctors. I have to say that I have never been so impressed. To grow up in a hostile environment and turn around to become successful and admired is a beautiful thing. I hope their inspiration leads kids to reach for more than what is convenient.

Thank you, Cynthia Nixon, for being an activist for public education. If it means raising taxes, so be it. What could be more valuable than a highly educated society?
Lizabeth Steinhart, Los Angeles, Calif.
If Nixon believes her daughter's school is understaffed at lunchtime, perhaps she should volunteer to spend time there as a lunch mom.
