I was thrilled to see Julia get married. The way she and Danny tied the knot describes perfectly how wonderful their relationship is. They didn't have to have a huge ceremony with all the hoopla. Julia has inspired me to take the road less traveled.
Blair Frazier, Stillwater, Okla.
We can't always choose whom we fall in love with, only what we do with that gift of love when it comes our way. Julia and Danny chose to accept the gift, and I salute them for it. I met my true love 15 years ago, when we were both married to others. Despite the problems, we decided to follow our hearts and are still happily married after 14 years.
Gina Bohannon, San Pedro, Calif.
I wish Julia Roberts's wedding had been kept a secret. A short, failed marriage, a bolt from the altar, tells me she has no respect for the institution. Where I live we have a name for women who go after other women's husbands.
Marilyn Hill, East Troy, Wis.
Nothing gives my friends and me a good laugh more than a Julia Roberts engagement or wedding. The office pool is already in full gear with over 20 entries. My pick is 11 months and 15 days. C'mon, Julia, don't let me down.
Greg Harris, Atlanta, Ga.
I was disappointed looking at the Julia Roberts wedding article. I felt like I was reading a supermarket tabloid with photos apparently taken with a telephoto lens from miles away or someone hanging from a tree. Stars deserve privacy while on their private property.
Sarah Roth, Grand Rapids,Mich.
I can't imagine the stresses that come with a celebrity marriage. Ms. Roberts is obviously a strong lady. I do know that if both are committed to making it work, it will.
Melissa Reynolds, Crestwood, Ky.
Valerie Bertinelli and Eddie Van Halen
I grew up admiring both Eddie Van Halen and Valerie Bertinelli. I thought they made the most adorable couple, and I was thrilled when they got married. Even with their bad-boy-good-girl image, I always thought that love would keep them together. How sad it didn't.
Teresa Jones-Day, Jamestown, Ohio
Obviously Eddie Van Halen didn't reevaluate everything in his life. If he had, I think there would not have been a photo of him with a golf club in one hand and a cigarette in the other, taken the same month he declared he was cancer-free. I admire his wife for finally saying enough is enough. Valerie is a better person than I would have been for loving him for over 20 years.
Denise Peterson, Old Hickory, Tenn.
Watching TNT's Door to Door snapped me back to reality and helped me get perspective on my own life. What a role model Bill Porter is. When I began to watch his story, I thought I would be feeling sorry for him, but as it turns out, I felt sorry for myself for not having this humble gentleman's attitude and drive. I wanted to kick myself for ever complaining about trivial things. What a truly encouraging, inspiring and humbling story he is.
Terri Campbell, Paragould, Ark.
I really enjoyed reading your article "Life of a Salesman," except that I disagree with one part of the story. People do not "suffer" from cerebral palsy. This verb incorrectly describes a person with this handicap. My sister has cerebral palsy, and in my opinion, her handicap makes her unique and special, just like Bill Porter.
Jessica Marx, Matthews, N.C.
I am a new victim of this crime. The perpetrator was using my Social Security number, name and address. I immediately established a fraud alert with the credit bureaus. I have received several calls from creditors about loans and credit cards requested in my name. This crime continuously victimizes and should carry harsher sentences.
Darrin R. Washburn, San Diego, Calif.
Aw, poor Michael Jackson, he only sold 6 million copies of his latest CD in comparison to 47 million copies of Thriller. Michael is trying to blame Sony and Tommy Mottola for his CD not doing well by citing racism. Hey, Michael, did it occur to you that maybe it's because your latest ain't such a thriller?
Linda Erendson, Port St. Lucie, Fla.
