Road to Perdition star Jude Law, 29, and his wife, actress and fashion designer Sadie Frost (Uprising), 37, welcomed their third child, son Rudy, on Sept. 10 in London. The English actors are also the parents of Rafferty, 5, and Iris, who turns 2 next month. Frost also has an 11-year-old son, Finlay, from a previous marriage....

Microsoft chairman Bill Gates, 46, and his wife, Melinda, 38, welcomed their third child, daughter Phoebe Adelle, on Sept. 14 in Bellevue, Wash. The tot joins sister Jennifer, 6, and brother Rory, 3.

Ailing
Rock singer-songwriter Warren Zevon, 55, best known for his 1978 hit "Werewolves of London," was diagnosed with untreatable lung cancer in August. Zevon said in a statement, "I'm okay with it. But it'll be a drag if I don't make it till the next James Bond movie comes out."

Citing conflict of personalities, businessman Neil Bush, 47, the brother of President Bush, filed for divorce from his wife, Sharon, 49, on Aug. 26 in Houston. The couple, who have been married 22 years, have three children. The custody of daughter Ashley, 13, and son Pierce, 16, is in question; daughter Lauren, 18, a fashion model, was not mentioned in the complaint.

Recuperating
Actor Verne Troyer, 33, best known for playing Mini-Me in the Austin Powers films, was released from an L.A. hospital on Sept. 5, five days after undergoing an emergency appendectomy.

Deaths

Quarterback Johnny Unitas, 69, who led the Baltimore Colts to three championships during an 18-year career, died of a heart attack on Sept. 11 while working out in Timonium, Md. With his trademark crewcut and black high-tops, Unitas, who retired in 1973, broke nearly every NFL passing record. In 2000 Unitas was selected as the greatest quarterback of all time by the Pro Football Hall of Fame voters.

...LaWanda Page, 81, who portrayed the tough, Bible-toting Aunt Esther on TV's Sanford and Son in the 1970s, died of diabetes complications on Sept. 14 in Inglewood, Calif....

Actor James Gregory, 90, who played Inspector Lugar on TV's Barney Miller in the late '70s and early '80s, died of undisclosed causes on Sept. 16 in Sedona, Ariz. He also appeared in more than 25 Broadway shows and 30 films, including 1962's The Manchurian Candidate.

...Actor Cliff Gorman, 65, best known for his Tony Award-winning performance as comedian Lenny Bruce in the 1971 Broadway play Lenny, died of leukemia on Sept. 5 in New York City.

On Sept. 12 in Malibu, Sean Stewart, 22, the son of rocker Rod Stewart and his ex-wife, actress Alana Stewart, was sentenced to 90 days in jail and drug rehabilitation stemming from two separate incidents (PEOPLE, April 1, 2002). In December Stewart was arrested for attacking a man outside a Malibu restaurant; three months later he was charged with possession of a controlled substance after passing out in front of a West Hollywood nightclub.
