Citing irreconcilable differences, restaurateur and designer Barbara Lazaroff, 49, filed for divorce from celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck, 53, on Nov. 27 in L.A. During their 19-year marriage, Lazaroff helped her husband open more than 30 eateries nationwide. The couple plan to share custody of their two sons, Cameron, 13, and Byron, 8.
Engaged
Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, 58, and girlfriend, nurse Judith Nathan, 48, became engaged Nov. 24 in Paris. The couple have not yet announced a wedding date. It will be Nathan's second marriage and the third for Giuliani, who, after a long and bitter battle, reached a divorce settlement with actress Donna Hanover in July.
Arrested
Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher, 30, and drummer Alan White, 30, were arrested on Dec. 1 in Munich for allegedly brawling with guests in a nightclub. According to police, band members fought with several patrons after knocking into their table. The performers, who were released later that day, said in a statement that they "were the victims of an unprovoked attack by a group of youths." The band canceled their four remaining concerts in Germany.

Celebrity publicist Lizzie Grubman, 31, left a Long Island, N.Y., jail on Nov. 29 after serving 37 days of a 60-day sentence for backing her car into a crowd outside a Hamptons nightclub and fleeing the scene in July 2001 (PEOPLE, July 30, 2001). Grubman, whose clients have included Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys, was let out early for good behavior....
On Dec. 2 in Monte Carlo, American nurse Ted Maher, 44, was convicted of killing his billionaire boss Edmond Safra, 67, in December 1999 by setting a fire in Safra's penthouse apartment in Monte Carlo (PEOPLE, Dec. 20, 1999). According to the defense, Maher set the blaze with the intention of making himself a hero by rescuing his boss. Maher, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison, called the fire "a terrible accident."
Recuperating
While skiing with her family in Aspen on Nov. 29, CNN anchor Paula Zahn, 46, fell and fractured her right leg. The newswoman underwent successful surgery at a Colorado hospital and will miss at least a week and a half of work....
Zsa Zsa Gabor, 85, broke her arm on Nov. 27 after a car driven by her hairdresser crashed into a light pole on Sunset Boulevard. The Hungarian-born Gabor was unconscious for a day after the accident and is now in fair condition in an L.A. hospital. She is, however, expected to make a full recovery.
Deaths
Czech-born filmmaker Karel Reisz, 76, who directed The French Lieutenant's Woman (1981), died of a blood disorder on Nov. 25 in London. Reisz was a pioneer of Britain's cinematic New Wave in the '50s and '60s.
