South Sparks
Thanks to her costar Jason Lee, a bleary-eyed Julia Stiles got through the early morning filming schedule for their romantic comedy, A Guy Thing. "The South Park movie is one of my favorites, and he'd sing songs [like "What Would Brian Boitano Do?"] from it at 5 o'clock in the morning," says Stiles, 21. "By the end of the shoot, all Jason would have to say is 'Brian Boitano' and I'd start laughing." Working with a funny man has other advantages as well. "I actually stole all of Jason's jokes," admits Stiles, who's currently a student at Columbia University. "When I went back to school after the movie, everyone thought I was so funny, but I was only quoting Jason Lee."

Name Games
Diehard soccer fan Anthony LaPaglia has been waiting his entire life to name his first child after the actor's favorite English goalie. LaPaglia finally got the chance in early January, when his wife, actress Gia Carides, gave birth to their daughter, Bridget. "One of her middle names is Banks—for Gordon Banks, my boyhood hero," says LaPaglia, 44, now starring in the CBS missing-person's drama Without a Trace. "I always knew that when I had kids, I'd throw his name in there, boy or girl." LaPaglia dabbled in another childhood pastime when he and Carides vacationed in Italy with fellow Aussie actors Hugh Jack-man and his wife, Deborra-lee Furness. "Hugh and I played bocce all the time," LaPaglia says. "It requires steady hands, so we'd try to get each other to fold with a little schoolyard talk. Bocce is basically bowling, but Hugh and I turned it into a game of psychological warfare."

STARS SOUND OFF: BRITNEY AND JUSTIN

With reports of a romantic encounter after the American Music Awards in L.A., Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake have kept gossip columnists on their toes. But what do celebs see in the future for the first couple of pop?

Michael Clarke Duncan: "They need to get back together or move on. Or she should date me. I don't care what they do as long as they do it soon. I am tired of the indecision and the games."

Kathy Griffin: "I am a nervous wreck about them. I think those kids are going to work it out, I really do. I think they will be lifelong friends. Although you know Britney is really regretting saying, 'We're going to be together forever.' I don't even say that about my husband."

Kirstie Alley: "I don't care about anybody else's love life. I have enough trouble with my own without worrying about someone else's."

Camryn Manheim: "If they get back together, it will probably sell lots of magazines and records. If they stay broken up, I doubt either of them will ever have a problem finding a date."

Wendie Malick: "You are asking the wrong girl. I'm too old for that question. I don't even know who they are. I've moved into the lite-FM demographic."

Trista Rehn: (The Bachelorette): "I'd be happy for them if they can work stuff out. That's great. Go for it."

Cybill Shepherd: "I'm bored of that story line already."

Robin Williams: "That relationship has such heat, but these celebrity relationships are like horse races: You're not even sure they'll hang on for eight seconds out of the gate. More importantly, she's still a virgin, right? I would hate to think she gave into the pressures of us common folk."
