Jetting across the country for corporate gigs in 1995, master mimic Danny Gans made the right impression on everyone except daughter Amy. Then 7, she drew him a family picture for Father's Day. "Where's Daddy?" he asked. She pointed to a plane in the comer: "You're right there."

How to salvage his family life? Settle in Sin City. Two years into an eight-year, $150 million deal at Las Vegas's Mirage casino, Gans attracts sold-out crowds with his spot-on impressions of stars like Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra and Sylvester Stallone, who calls Gans's show "the most extraordinary musical performance I have ever seen."

Gans, 46, a Torrance, Calif., native, played minor-league baseball until he severed his Achilles tendon in '78. Fortunately, "he picked up impressions a lot faster than he picked up hitting a curve ball," says his TV-salesman father, Sid, 86. "It doesn't seem like work, it's just a joy," says Gans, who lives in nearby Henderson, Nev., with wife Julie, 44, and their three kids. "When I walk, out there, it's the greatest".
