Look of Love
With Glamorous Costumes and Sherbet-Colored Sets, Down with Love Captures the Bubbly Style of the '60s
I don't know how I'll go back to wearing jeans!" says Renée Zellweger. After seeing the creations she wears in the comedy Down With Love, who could blame her? Taking his cues from films like the Doris Day-Rock Hudson classic Pillow Talk, costume designer Daniel Orlandi whipped up 37 candy-colored suits, sheaths and gowns in period fabrics for Zellweger, who plays a provocative author opposite Ewan McGregor as a lady-killer journalist. "My character embraces her femininity," she says, "so skirts that fit just so really helped." Less appealing were the fake lashes (she's allergic) and spiky heels, which she admits gave her a new respect for "career gals" who dressed to the nines. "I don't know how they did it every day." Sounds like she'll be keeping those jeans after all.
