Thanks to a Surrogate, Joan Lunden and Husband Jeff Konigsberg Take Home Twins

After five failed attempts at in vitro fertilization, former Good Morning America host Joan Lunden, 52, and husband Jeff Konigsberg turned to surrogate Deborah Bolig last year and made it clear they wanted to be hands-on every step of the way. So on June 10 the couple stood in the delivery room as Bolig, 42, gave birth in her hometown of Cincinnati to 5-lb. 14-oz. Kate Elizabeth and 6-lb. 11-oz. Max Aaron. As Lunden, who has three daughters from her first marriage, and Konigsberg, 42, who owns two summer camps, headed home to Connecticut, they celebrated their expanded family—including Bolig, her husband, Pete, and their three kids. Says Lunden: "We truly hope that they'll always remain a part of our lives."
