Recuperating
Actor Buddy Ebsen, 95, who played family patriarch Jed Clampett on the TV series The Beverly Hillbillies (1962-71) and starred as the title character in the detective series Barnaby Jones (1973-80), was admitted to a Torrance, Calif., hospital in late June with an undisclosed illness. A rep for the actor said Ebsen is "on the road to recovery."

Track stars Marion Jones, 27, a five-time Olympic gold medalist, and Tim Montgomery, 28, the 100-meter world-record holder, welcomed their first child together, Tim, June 28 in Durham, N.C.
Arrested
Marion "Suge" Knight, 38, founder of Death Row Records, was arrested in L.A. June 27 for allegedly violating his parole by punching a parking attendant in the face six days earlier. Knight is currently being held without bail. The rap mogul was released on parole in 2001 after serving five years for violating probation, which stemmed from a 1992 attack on two rappers. A rep for Knight could not be reached for comment.
Update
An estimated $250,000 worth of jewelry belonging to hip-hop star Lil' Kim, 28, was found in a locker room at New York City's Kennedy International Airport on June 27, a week after it disappeared when the rapper accidentally checked it in with her luggage (People, July 7, 2003). Three days later John Acheson, a 31-year-old New Rochelle, N.Y., man, was charged with attempted grand larceny by extortion for allegedly calling Kim's lawyer, saying he had her necklace and demanding money for its return. An investigation of the incident is ongoing.
Law & Order
On June 26 in Baton Rouge, Grammy-nominated rapper Mystikal, 32, pleaded guilty to charges he forced his hairstylist to perform sex acts on him and two bodyguards last July. Mystikal (born Michael Tyler) had originally been charged with aggravated rape but agreed to plead guilty to extortion and sexual battery. He will receive five years' probation for extortion and will be sentenced in September for battery. A rep for Mystikal could not be reached for comment.
Split
After 13 years of marriage, Andrew Cuomo, 45, the son of former New York governor Mario Cuomo, and Kerry Kennedy Cuomo, 43, the daughter of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, announced June 30 that they are separating. The couple have three daughters. Cuomo, a former U.S. housing secretary, ran unsuccessfully for New York governor last year; Kennedy is a human rights advocate.
Deaths
Buddy Hackett, 78, the round, twinkly eyed comedian who starred in nightclubs and movies tike I963's It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, died at his Southern California beach house. His body was found June 30.
