After 17 hours in labor, Bay watch's Pamela Lee, 28, and her husband, rock drummer Tommy Lee, 33, welcomed their first child, Brandon Thomas (7 lbs. 7 ozs.), at home in Malibu on June 5.

Citing juror vote-trading to avoid a deadlock, a California state appeals court overturned Heidi Fleiss's 1994 pandering conviction and ordered a new trial for the 30-year-old Hollywood Madam. Fleiss had faced a three-year prison sentence on charges that she supplied prostitutes to undercover policemen posing as businessmen. The May 28 ruling does not affect Fleiss's federal conviction on money-laundering and tax-evasion charges....

A Santa Monica municipal court sentenced Cyndy Truhan, 46, former wife of onetime Los Angeles Dodgers star Steve Garvey, to two years' probation for filing false police reports claiming that someone was harassing her, leaving flowers and notes on her car (PEOPLE, March 18, 1996). As part of her probation, Truhan must attend a drug rehabilitation program and see a court-approved therapist once a week....

The man who is accused of stalking country star Barbara Mandrell, 47, for some 15 years has been ordered by a Davidson County court to leave the state of Tennessee. Minneapolis resident Edwin Carlson, 42, received a suspended jail sentence for aggravated criminal trespassing after he was found in Mandrell's car on the country star's Whites Creek, Tenn., estate last month. Carlson faces jail if he returns to Tennessee....

In a plea-bargain agreement in a Washington federal court on June 5, Joseph Waldholtz, 33, former husband of Utah Republican Rep. Enid Greene, pleaded guilty to one count each of bank fraud, assisting in the filing of a false tax return, making a false statement to the Federal Election Committee and failing to report campaign contributions. Waldholtz is to be sentenced Sept. 19. Greene said that the plea "in no way offsets the pain and agony" she and her family have suffered....

Pop artist Peter Max, 58, was indicted on June 5 in New York City for failing to report income from more than $1.1 million in art sales between 1986 and 1991. Best known for his colorful, psychedelic posters that first appeared in the '60s, Max faces arraignment on June 13.

Two teenagers were arrested for commandeering actress Robin Wright's car on May 29. Wright, 30, accompanied by her children Dylan, 5, and Hopper, 2, was parking the green Toyota Land Cruiser in the driveway of the home she shares with husband Sean Penn when two youths approached the car and demanded the keys. Wright handed over the keys, grabbed her children and tied to a neighbor's home, where she called authorities. Within the hour police arrested Dackery Williams, 18, and another 16-year-old suspect, whose name was not released because of his age. Williams pleaded not guilty to charges of carjacking and robbery in Santa Monica municipal court; the other suspect pleaded guilty to carjacking and will be sentenced on June 19 in juvenile court....

Woody Harrelson, 34, was arrested in Beattyville, Ky., on June 1 after planting four marijuana seeds as part of a campaign to legalize industrial hemp, a plant related to the hemp strain that is used to produce marijuana. (Under state law, planting more than four marijuana seeds is a felony.) Harrelson, a partner in a California company that makes clothing from imported hemp, says his trial will challenge Kentucky laws that forbid growing hemp plants for any use. The actor was charged with a misdemeanor and released on a $2,000 bond.

Former Bush Administration's Secretary of Commerce Robert Mosbacher, 69, filed for divorce in Houston on May 31 from his chichi wife, Georgette, 49, a Republican fund-raiser and cosmetics entrepreneur. The couple, married 12 years, had no children together....

A spokeswoman for Debbie Reynolds, 64, confirmed that the actress's divorce from her third husband, real estate developer Richard Hamlett, 60, was finalized last month. The couple, who separated in 1994, had been married 12 years.

Western movie star Lash LaRue died at age 79 on May 21 at a hospital in Burbank, Calif. He had suffered from emphysema and recently underwent triple-bypass surgery. Louisiana-born Al LaRue was dubbed Lash for his bullwhip exploits in his breakthrough 1945 film Song of Old Wyoming. LaRue and his trademark 15-foot whip appeared in a series of low-budget shoot-'em-ups in the '40s and early '50s....

Pianist-producer-songwriter Don Grolnick, 48, who was known for his work with Bonnie Raitt and James Taylor, died of complications from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma on June 1 at a Manhattan hospital. Grolnick joined the jazz-rock band Dreams in 1971 and over the next two decades accompanied stars such as Linda Ronstadt and Steely Dan on tour and in recording sessions.

On Doctor's Orders: Former First Lady Nancy Reagan, 74, canceled an appearance with former First Lady Betty Ford at a June 5 antidrug conference in Washington. Reagan, diagnosed with viral pneumonia in mid-May, is recovering at her home in Bel Air, Calif....

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Herb Caen, 80, revealed in his May 30 San Francisco Chronicle column that he has inoperable lung cancer. Caen, whose first column about San Francisco life appeared July 5, 1938, stopped smoking 25 years ago after four decades of heavy puffing. He plans to continue writing his column three times a week....

Former L.A. mayor Tom Bradley, 78, was released from a rehabilitation facility in Ingle-wood, Calif., on May 31. Bradley, who suffered a stroke April 4 after triple-bypass surgery, will continue physical and speech therapy at home.
