A New York jury found on Sept. 18 that Elizabeth Taylor, 64, owes Cicely Tyson, 62, some $1,300,000 in contract pay and interest for a 1983 Taylor-produced stage version of The Corn Is Green and an aborted video production, in which Tyson was to have starred. Tyson sued after being fired from the Broadway play when she took a night off to attend a tribute to her then-husband, Miles Davis, who died in 1991. Taylor's attorneys hope to have the verdict reversed....

Actor-director Clint Eastwood, 66, agreed to pay his former girlfriend Sandra Locke, 49, an undisclosed sum in a Sept. 24 out-of-court settlement in Bur-bank, Calif. The actress had filed a $2 million suit last year, claiming Eastwood secured a sham directing contract for her with Warner Bros, as a way of getting her to drop her 1989 palimony suit against him.

Three s Company star I John Ritter, 48, and his wife, Nancy Morgan Ritter, 45, are divorcing after nearly 19 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple, who have been separated since 1992, have three children, aged 11, 14 and 16.

Actor Antonio Ban-I deras, 36, and his wife of nearly five months, actress Melanie Griffith, 39, welcomed a 5-lb., 7-oz. daughter, Stella del Carmen, on Sept. 24 in the jet-set resort town of Marbella, Spain. Griffith has two other children from previous marriages to actors Don Johnson and Steve Bauer. This is Banderas's first child.

Actor Ashley Hamilton, 22, son of George Hamilton and Alana Stewart, will marry actress-model Angie Everhart, 27, Sylvester Stallone's ex-playmate, on Dec. 1 in Los Angeles. This will be Everhart's first marriage. Hamilton was married briefly to onetime Beverly Hills, 90210 star Shannen Doherty.

Chuck Woolery, 55, former emcee of the game show Love Connection and current host of Home & Family, a talk show on the Family Channel, underwent quadruple-bypass heart surgery on Sept. 23 in L.A. His doctors expect a full recovery.

Deborah M. Harter, 39, whose teenage daughter was shackled to her by order of a South Carolina judge (PEOPLE, Jan. 15), died in a car crash in Lexington County, S.C., on Sept. 21. The controversial order had been issued to keep Tonya Kline, 16, out of trouble while she awaited sentencing on truancy, shoplifting and burglary charges. Harter and her husband, Richard, were on their way home from visiting Kline in a juvenile detention center when their car was struck in a four-vehicle smashup. Richard Harter was treated for minor injuries.
