Star Tracks
Ever stylish Jerry Hall came through in the crutch as a presenter at London's MTV Europe Music Awards, where the British band Oasis won for best group. The legend of Hall's fall? No sticks nor Stones: Hall, who arrived solo but remains Mrs. Mick Jagger, tore ligaments frolicking with her dogs.
Having demonstrated he's a good skate (and a well-padded one), Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler relaxed with daughter Mia, 17, at a Manhattan cafe after a shared inline skating expedition. Mia, whose mom, Cyrinda Fox, was Tyler's first wife, is the half sister of movie star Liv Tyler (That Thing You Do!).
Kirstie Alley differed with director Woody Allen—look who's talking now!—while shooting a scene in New York City for Allen's next comedy, Deconstructing Harry. Allen leads an all-star cast that includes Demi Moore, Robin Williams, Billy Crystal and Elisabeth Shue.
Showing he still has what it takes to go on a (sober) bender, recent Betty Ford Center grad Kelsey Grammer joked with his girlfriend, Playboy model Camille Donatacci, before his roast by the Friars Club in Manhattan.
After successfully serving as host on Saturday Night Live, Robert Downey Jr. embraced his mom, Elsie Downey, and actor chum David Marshall Grant (The Chamber) at the postshow bash in Manhattan. The SNL guest shot marked Downey's first public appearance since being arrested last summer on drug-related offenses. Before doing SNL, he had to get a go-ahead for the gig from a judge and was accompanied to the Big Apple by a counselor. (Downey was sentenced on Nov. 6 to three years probation and three months at a drug treatment center.)
Michelle Pfeiffer (above, right) and her husband, producer David E. Kelley, were among the famous grown-ups ready to romp at Children at Play, a daylong country fair held at Will Rogers State Park in Los Angeles. The event was a fundraiser for Victory over Violence, an L.A.-based charity that helps support shelters for battered women. Other playfully minded attendees included (clockwise, from right): Michelle's kid sister, Cybill's Dedee Pfeiffer, who showed off her new wedding ring along with the groom, computer expert Greg Fein; Full House's Lori Loughlin, who toted a camera-shy pal; and Laura Dern—we want to koala into your backpack—who came with her beau Jeff Goldblum.
The fake fur was flying as a litter of glitterati dotted the premiere of the live-action remake of 101 Dalmatians at Manhattan's Radio City Music Hall. So, how was the movie? "It makes you want to buy some dalmatians and move to London [the film's setting]," said guest Lauren Hutton. After the screening, many of these dog lovers, including cast members Glenn Close, Joely Richardson and Joan Plowright (but not the movie's 230 dalmatian puppies), headed for the Plaza Hotel, where they assumed their rightful spots at a ball with a—what else?—black-and-white dress code. Departing guests were presented with doggie bags containing the movie's soundtrack and other Dalmatians goodies.
Model Jill Connick (née Goodacre) coated herself in black and white.
New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani dogged it.
Martha Stewart and niece Sophie Martha Herbert capped off the film in (gasp!) store-bought hats
Jeff Daniels, who plays 101's love-struck Roger, brooded happily with his wife, Kathleen, and their children (from left) Nellie, 6, Ben, 12, and Lucas, 9.
Putting her best paw forward, Rosie O'Donnell proved that, in showbiz, the shoe must go on.
