Citing irreconcilable differences, actress Jenny McCarthy (The Bad Girl's Guide), 32, and her husband of nearly six years, director John Asher (Dirty Love), 34, filed for divorce in L.A. They have a 3-year-old son, Evan.

HEALTH
Hawaiian singer Don Ho, 75, was admitted to a hospital Aug. 19 in Honolulu for shortness of breath. He was released a few days later and is now receiving treatment for an abnormal heart rhythm.

LEGAL MATTERS
On Aug. 22 in Atlanta, convicted bomber Eric Rudolph, 38, was sentenced to four consecutive life terms in prison for three attacks in the Atlanta area in 1996 and 1997, including the explosion at the '96 Olympic Games that killed one person and injured more than 100 people. The sentences were part of a plea agreement that eliminates Rudolph's chances for parole. "I sincerely hoped to achieve my objectives without harming innocent civilians.... I would do anything to take that night back," Rudolph said of the Olympic bombing.... The mother of the boy who accused Michael Jackson of child molestation earlier this year was charged with welfare fraud Aug. 22 in L.A. for allegedly collecting $19,000 in false claims. The Los Angeles D.A. alleges that the woman, who was a key witness for the case against Jackson, never told authorities about money she received in a settlement. "This is a tragic and cruel irony," says her former legal counsel. "She put everything on the line to protect her son and ends up being subjected to another grueling process."

MISHAP
Actress Scarlett Johansson (The Island), 20, bumped into a car carrying a family of three while driving in Anaheim, Calif. The actress reportedly clipped the right side of the other vehicle when she entered a Disneyland parking lot in an effort to get away from paparazzi who were following her car. California police responded to the incident, but no charges were filed.

UPDATE
Joseph Yacteen, 26, was charged with first degree attempted murder and 18 other charges for allegedly shooting singer Marc Cohn last month (People, Aug. 22,2005). Cohn, 46, suffered a head injury when a bullet struck him in the temple during an attempted carjacking on Aug. 7 in Denver. Prosecutors claim that Yacteen shot Cohn during a crime spree that included two other carjacking incidents over a 24-hour period. A lawyer for Yacteen could not be reached for comment.

REVEALED
The mysterious man found wandering in a daze in England April 7— and later dubbed Piano Man because of his reputed talent for playing the piano (People, May 30,2005)—was released from Dartford's Little Brook Hospital. Though the hospital did not disclose his name, the tall, blond man has been identified as Andreas Grassl, a 20-year-old from Germany He spent four months at the hospital but reportedly didn't speak a word. "He has been discharged following a marked improvement in his condition," the hospital said. Adds his family's lawyer: "He was suffering from a mental illness, and he needs time to be alone with his family."

DEATH
Robert Moog, 71, who invented the Moog synthesizer in 1964 and revolutionized pop music with electronic sounds, died Aug. 21 in Asheville, N.C., of brain cancer. Everyone from the Beatles to the Black Eyed Peas recorded tracks using a range of rhythms generated by Moog's machines. "I will forever be grateful for his contribution," says Duran. Duran keyboardist Nick Rhodes. "It undoubtedly shaped my life-along with the future of music."
