DIANA AND DODI
A Bird in the Hand
Attention, Harrods shoppers: In memory of Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed, who died eight years ago on Aug. 31, Harrods owner (and Dodi's father) Mohamed Al Fayed has commissioned an 8-ft.-tall statue of the pair to be on permanent display in his London store. The public's verdict on the statue—created by artist Bill Mitchell and titled Innocent Victims—is still out, but one blog posting declared it "a monstrosity."
FERGIE PLAYS
Royal Guest
Has Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, regained her place on the royal A list? For the first time since she and Prince Andrew split in '96, Queen Elizabeth invited her ex-daughter-in-law for a two night stay in early August at Balmoral, the family's Scottish retreat. Perhaps the Queen indulged granddaughters Beatrice, 17, and Eugenie, 15, who "asked if [their mum] could come," say: a source. "[Fergie] had a lovely time."
HARRY: ADVENTURE MAN
Ditching his polo shirts and khakis for a wet suit and fins, Prince Harry plumbed the depths of Plymouth Sound, off the coast of Devon, England, Aug. 25. His two 40-minute dives capped off a weeklong novice scuba course the prince took with mates from Sandhurst military academy during the August break. A British Ministry of Defence spokesman says the class is "adventure training." The next day, according to Britain's Sunday Mirror, Harry jetted off for a different adventure: a rendezvous with South African girlfriend Chelsy Davy on Bazaruto Island, off Mozambique.
