Remembering Charles Rocket
Comedian Charles Rocket, 56, who rocked Saturday Night Live in 1981 when he uttered an expletive during a live skit, committed suicide Oct. 7 in Connecticut. NBC fired Rocket and other castmates after a drop in ratings. "I'm not proud that it slipped through," he told PEOPLE in 1989. "But that's all it was—a slip." A local news anchor prior to joining SNL in 1980, Rocket later appeared on TV's Moonlighting, Touched by an Angel and the 1994 movie Dumb and Dumber. "I'm shocked," says SNL costar Gilbert Gottfried. "He always struck me as an easygoing person."
