The Parents-to-Be Get Glitzy at An Event with Liz Taylor—and Katie Tries Out as a Soccer Stepmom

With wedding rumors buzzing and baby on the way, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise have already hit their stride as a Hollywood power couple. On Nov. 10 they stepped out in Armani for a British Academy of Film and Television Arts gala honoring Cruise. "They couldn't leave each other alone," a fellow guest says of the twosome, who kissed and held hands during the banquet at the Beverly Hilton. Then it was back to work for Cruise—who is busy shooting Mission: Impossible 3—while Holmes joined Cruise's son Connor, 10, in cheering on his sister Isabella, 12, during a soccer game, keeping Tom up on the action via cell phone. Later, Holmes left the kids for serious grown-up fun—shopping at Neiman Marcus, where she snapped up a pair of men's cufflinks. Still, in the Cruise Holmes household, it seems bling takes a backseat to family time. On Sunday Tom and Katie met the kids at the Scientology Celebrity Centre in Hollywood. Then they all went to the Warner Bros, studio, where a Harry Potter screening was being held. Now there's someone who could appreciate the spell the high-powered pair seems to have cast on each other.
