Introducing...Five Hot New Stars Worth Tuning Into
PRISON BREAK'S
Wentworth Miller
AGE: 33
STATUS: Single
THIS YEAR: He launched the most Web searches of any fall TV star
Miller's character Michael Scofield gets himself thrown into prison—the penitentiary's blueprints tattooed on his body—to break out his brother. We brought the 1995 Princeton grad in for questioning.
What's with that Prison Break tattoo?
"It's a series of decals—may be 20 of them that cover my entire upper body and arms. It takes four, five hours to apply, if you're lucky enough to have two people applying it. I'm pretty sure I'm never going to get a real one."
Ever been arrested?
"I've been busted for roiling through a stop sign or two, but that's as close as I've come."
Seeing anyone special?
"My last meaningful relationship was about a year ago and lasted only a few months, but it was hot and heavy—those are the best kind."
DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES'
Mehcad Brooks
AGE: 25
STATUS: Single
THIS YEAR: The new "kid" on the block helped launch an intriguing new story line
His character Matthew Applewhite packs a pistol, locks somebody in the cellar and guards his mysterious past. Brooks, on the other hand, makes no secret of his background.
A former fashion model from Austin, Texas, he landed a recurring role on TV's Boston Public in 2003. "I wasn't very smart with my money," admits the 6'3" bodybuilder. "So I ended up washing storefront windows in Beverly Hills. It keeps things in perspective for me now. I love Gucci and Hugo Boss, But when I walk into one of those stores on Rodeo Drive and put down $1,000 on a suit, I know I'm the same guy who was their window washer."
CSI: NY'S
Carmine Giovinazzo
AGE: 32
STATUS: Single
THIS YEAR: His edgy Det. Danny Messer turned up the heat on the franchise
He grew up on Staten Island with family in law enforcement and hoped for a career in baseball until a back injury sidelined him. Beyond that, what kind of a guy is he?
"I'm a tea guy. If it's a rainy day, I'm just gonna stay in. I like tea."
"I'm definitely more of a nocturnal guy. "I usually stay in bed until 15 to 20 minutes before I've got to go to work. I tend to play the guitar in the morning. I play it really fast and loud so I can wake myself up and get myself going."
"I'm a chicken guy. I'm a very simple, picky eater. I guess my favorite food at the moment is blackened chicken."
"I'm tank-top guy. It's part of where I come from. It's what all my uncles and my father wore when I was a kid, and I now wear one. It's as simple as that."
THE 40 YEAR-OLD VIRGIN'S
Romany Malco
Age: 37
Status: Single
This year: He scored as a charming cheater in Virgin, and on Showtime's comedy Weeds he's the outgoing, in-the-know son of a drug dealer
His dating confession: "I'm straight-up single. I say it like it's by design, but it is not really like that. Truth is, I am so selective, man. I hate to say it, but it's true."
His code: "When I had a girlfriend, I was 100 percent loyal. If I have a friend who is cheating, I will scold them hard-core. If you are my friend, I am probably tight with your woman, and I don't want to be in the wrath of your karma. It may seem too old-school and philosophical, but that is me."
His type: "From my mother down to my assistant, I am surrounded by controlling women each as lovely and opinionated as the next."
THE OFFICE'S
John Krasinski
Age: 27
Status: Single
This year: He rose to resident stud at the Scranton branch of the Dunder-Mifflin Paper Company on The Office
Relative heights: At 6'3" the Newton, Mass., native got the "short end of the stick" compared to 6'8" and 6'9" older brothers. "But my mom was happy," he says. "She had a hard time shopping for those other mutants."
Romantic lengths: While studying playwriting at Brown University, he once drove five hours to surprise his girlfriend with a dozen roses. "I was more excited than she was!" he confesses.
Style stance: "My main focus is to always try to be myself first, and then, hey, if I wear a cool jacket, that's a bonus."
Post office: During hiatus, he'll write the screenplay for an indie film based on David Foster Wallace's Brief Interviews with Hideous Men. "In my career, I'm trying to follow what I admire artistically."
Sexy shocker: "When my publicist told me I was going to be one of the sexiest men alive I thought I was getting punk'd! I said, 'Good one, guys. Good one.' "
