BIRTHS
Italian actress Monica Bellucci, 36, who played Mary Magdalene in The Passion of the Christ and her husband, French actor Vincent Cassel, 37, welcomed their first child, a daughter named Deva, Sept. 12 in Rome. The couple wed in 1999.

ARRESTED
Former Growing Pains star Tracey Gold, 35, was arrested on suspicion of committing a felony DUI and causing injury Sept. 4 after she rolled her vehicle on a highway in Moorepark, Calif. Her husband, Roby Marshall, and their three sons were also in the car. Marshall was treated at a local hospital for his injuries. A lawyer for Gold said this was "a private family matter."

TROUBLE
Lionel Tate, 17, the Florida teen who was convicted of first-degree murder in 2001 (PEOPLE, Feb. 12, 2001) for killing his 6-year-old playmate, was charged with probation violation Sept. 7 in Fort Lauderdale, four days after police found him carrying a pocket knife. Tate was released from prison eight months ago after serving three years. He was later sentenced to 10 years probation. A lawyer for Tate could not be reached for comment.

SUED
On Sept. 13 in L.A. actor David Schwimmer sued former fund-raiser Aaron Tonken for slander. The lawsuit alleges that Tonken accused the Friends star of demanding a pair of Rolex watches for participating in a charity event. Schwimmer, 37, calls the accusations "outrageous lies." Last month, Tonken, 39, was sentenced to more than five years in prison on unrelated fraud charges. He could not be reached for comment.

LAW & ORDER
Charges against actress Robin Givens, 39, were dismissed Sept. 13 in Miami after three police officers failed to show up at her traffic court trial for running over an elderly pedestrian's leg in January (PEOPLE, Feb. 16, 2004). Givens had been ticketed for failing to use due care with a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Maria Antonia Alcover, 89, filed a civil suit against the actress in June. A rep for Givens had no comment.

DEATHS
Lyricist Fred Ebb, thought to be 76, whose 40-year collaboration with composer John Kander resulted in songs for such legendary Broadway shows as Cabaret and Chicago, died Sept. 11 in Manhattan of a heart attack. Ebb also wrote the lyrics for the Big Apple anthem "New York, New York." ...Animator Frank Thomas, 92, one of Walt Disney's top artists for more than 40 years, died Sept. 8 in La Canada Flintridge, Calif., following an undisclosed illness. One of Thomas's most famous scenes was of two dogs romantically eating a strand of spaghetti in 1955's Lady and the Tramp.
