MANDY AND ZACH PAIR OFF
Many of Hollywood's hottest couples turned out for the Creative Artists Agency's Back to School event Sept. 30 at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood. Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake boogied to "Billie Jean," while Christina Aguilera mingled with her boyfriend, business exec Jordan Bratman. But the couple who really raised eyebrows were Scrubs star Zach Braff and Mandy Moore, who arrived and left together, and stayed close by each other's side throughout the party. Although a rep for Moore insists the pair are just friends, the duo turned up again two days later at a Rally the Youth Vote for John Kerry event held at Hollywood's Avalon. A few hours later they snuggled and smooched in a booth upstairs at Spider Club. A spokesperson for Braff did not return calls.

FERGIE'S NEW MAN
Another couple that had tongues wagging at the Kerry event: Las Vegas star Josh Duhamel and the Black Eyed Peas' singer Fergie. The two attended the afterparty at Spider Club, then they headed to Ivan Kane's Forty Deuce and caught the 1:30 a.m. burlesque show in the VIP section. The couple were "very affectionate," says a source, with Duhamel standing behind his new gal and wrapping his arms around her. Reps for both had no comment.

PARIS AND NICOLE TAKE THE BUS?
They've milked cows, trapped crawfish and visited a nudist colony. So what's in store for Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie in The Simple Life 3? Well, according to a source close to the planning, the pair will be taking a Greyhound bus—long with the hoi polloi—to cities across the nation to tackle office jobs. "It'll be more of an indoor [thing] as opposed to hard labor," says the source, who notes the plans haven't been finalized. "They'll likely work as interns at different places." Not everyone is eager to have their help. I hear the reality show's producers contacted The Wall Street Journal to see if the girls could spend a day xeroxing, but the Journal declined, offering the pair free subscriptions instead.

STING'S BEACHSIDE BIRTHDAY
For his 53rd birthday Sting threw a Mexican-themed bash Sept. 30 at his beach house in Malibu. Diana Ross, Pamela Anderson, Dustin Hoffman, Ellen DeGeneres, Courteney Cox Arquette and David Arquette (with baby Coco) were among 150 guests greeted by a woman in Mexican dress who offered everyone a shot of tequila before they made their way down to the party on the beach. Belly dancers, fire dancers and burlesque dancers performed, even bringing Sting onstage and coaxing him to take off his shirt. Wife Trudie Styler didn't seem to mind.

FAST TAKES
Spotted at New York City's Lotus club Sept. 29: Ashley Olsen bumping and grinding for her new beau, restaurateur Scott Sartiano, while Mary-Kate chatted with Sartiano's business partner Ali Federrici. (No, they're not a couple.)...
Lindsay Lohan recently shot the video for her first single, "Rumors." "It's a song about paparazzi," says a source. In the video she is chased by photographers, and at one point she's locked in a cage.... American Idol producers think they've found a female version of William Hung for the new season, which starts in January. "We met someone that makes William Hung look like Clay Aiken," says Idol host Ryan Seacrest.
