Singer Beyoncé Knowles, 23, tore her right hamstring on Sept. 28 while rehearsing dance moves with Destiny's Child for the trio's upcoming TV special. Her injury may delay some of the group's plans, including video shoots. "She overdid it," said Columbia Records spokeswoman Yvette Noel-Schure. "We're keeping our fingers crossed that it heals fast."...Actor Richard Gere, 55, recently broke his hand after jumping off a bucking horse and hitting a rock while riding near his home in Westchester County, N.Y.

On Sept. 29 in Los Angeles, Dawnette Knight, 33, pleaded not guilty to one count of stalking and 24 counts of making criminal threats against actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, 35. The charges stem from more than two dozen letters Knight allegedly sent to the actress and her husband, Michael Douglas (PEOPLE, Aug. 16, 2004). Knight's lawyer said the charges were "completely overblown."...Doctors have told Rolling Stone Charlie Watts that four months of radiation has put his throat cancer in remission. The 63-year-old drummer was diagnosed in June (PEOPLE, Aug. 30, 2004).
TROUBLE
An Unidentified gunman opened fire on the Las Vegas home of entertainer Roy Horn, 60, on Sept 21. According to police, the gunman shouted that Roy and his partner Siegfried Fischbacher, 65, should leave the country. A rep for the pair had no comment.
SUED
Courtney Love, 40, was sued by an L.A. travel agency for 850,000 in airline tickets and other travel arrangements. A rep for New Act Travel says the rocker used their services numerous times during the last year. A lawyer for Love declined to comment.
LEGAL MATTERS
On Sept. 21, Mel Gibson, 48, obtained a temporary restraining order against Zack Sinclair, 34, who allegedly showed up at the actor's Malibu home last month, demanding they pray together. Sinclair was arrested the previous day for disorderly conduct and loitering. Gibson said he feared for the safety of his wife and seven children.
DEATHS
Joyce Jillson, 58, the astrologer who wrote a nationally syndicated daily column and consulted for numerous businesses, celebrities and political figures, including the Reagan White House and 20th Century Fox Studios, died of kidney failure Oct. 1 in L.A....Gordon Cooper, 77, one of the original Mercury Seven astronauts, died of natural causes at his Ventura, Calif., home on Oct. 4. In 1963, Cooper orbited Earth 22 times in the last of the Project Mercury missions. Cooper was played by Dennis Quaid in the 1983 film The Right Stuff.
