British fashion designer Stella McCartney, 33, and her husband, Alasdhair Willis, 34, a former magazine publisher, are expecting their first child in the spring. The couple wed in August 2003. It will be the third grandchild for Stella's dad, former Beatle Paul McCartney. A rep for the designer said that McCartney is "looking forward to being a working mother."
UPDATE
On Oct. 6, rape charges against Barbershop star Anthony Anderson, 34, were thrown out by a Memphis judge, who called the accusations "suspicious." A 25-year-old woman had claimed that the actor and another man attacked her on the set of his upcoming film Hustle & Flow (People, Aug. 16, 2004). Anderson's rep said the actor is "relieved and delighted."
MILESTONE
On Oct. 6, Howard Stern announced that he will be taking his top-rated morning radio show, which is nationally syndicated by Infinity Broadcasting, to SIRIUS Satellite Radio in January 2006. Stern's program, with its sexually explicit tone and off-color humor, claims millions of loyal listeners but has also run afoul of FCC indecency laws many times. "I know the future," said Stern, 50, of why he was abandoning free commercial radio. "We will be bigger than ever." Stern signed a five-year, $500 million deal with SIRIUS.
ENGAGED
Disgraced ex-teacher Mary Kay Letourneau, 42, told CNN's Larry King On Oct. 11 that she is engaged to her former student Vili Fualaau, 21. Letourneau was released from prison two months ago (PEOPLE, Aug. 23) after serving more than seven years for having had sex with Fualaau when he was 13. The couple have two children together. Letourneau told King they have a "time frame" in mind for the wedding but did not disclose a date.
LEGAL MATTERS
On Oct. 8, an LA jury cleared celebrity dermatologist Arnold Klein, 59, and Botox maker Allergan of charges that they caused former model Irena Medavoy to get sick from Botox injections meant to cure her migraine headaches. Medavoy, 46, the wife of former Hollywood movie-studio head Mike Medavoy, said she was bedridden for four months and lost a TV project after undergoing the popular treatment. A rep for the Medavoys said they were disappointed and plan to appeal.
DEATHS
Bassist Bruce Palmer, 58, a member of the band the Buffalo Springfield, which pioneered the folk-rock and country-rock genres of the 1970s, died after suffering a heart attack on Oct. 1 in Ontario.
