Jennifer Lopez was having a good time in San José, Costa Rica, where she accompanied husband Marc Anthony for his Dec. 17 concert. Although she hung in the wings and danced, Anthony pulled her onstage after his final song, "I Need to Know." Four days later, one of her exes was saying he also needed to know something. On Dec. 21, first husband Ojani Noa filed a lawsuit in L.A. for unspecified damages, claiming he was wrongfully fired as the manager of J.Lo's Pasadena eatery, Madre's. Noa, 30, whose 1997 marriage to Lopez, 35, lasted little more than a year, claims they had an oral contract that she wouldn't fire him "without good cause or reason." Noa says when he was let go in 2002 without explanation, he was told. "Talk to Jennifer." But he says Lopez, then divorcing Cris Judd, never returned his calls. Lopez's rep didn't return our calls either, but to be fair, Noa's attorney says Lopez won't be served until early January.
AN EVENING WITH WHITNEY AND BOBBY
Although Whitney Houston clipped a city bus in her Porsche Dec. 15, the afternoon fender-bender didn't keep her from kicking up her heels that night at Justin's restaurant in Atlanta, where Sean "P. Diddy" Combs threw a surprise 34th-birthday party for his girlfriend, model Kim Porter. As soon as the DJ at the "Black and Bling" bash started playing songs by Houston's husband, Bobby Brown, the diva hit the dance floor. Then Brown got in on the act, grabbing a mike and singing along to his hit "Don't Be Cruel." During the formal sit-down dinner, Houston serenaded Porter with "Happy Birthday" and Combs toasted the mother of his 6-year-old son Christian: "[Kim] is my love and my best friend," he told his 250 guests.
A MAGIC NIGHT AT MARQUEE
Mark Wahlberg, Chloë Sevigny, Nicky Hilton and Entourage's, Kevin Connolly were among celebs celebrating the first anniversary of Manhattan hot spot Marquee Dec. 16. Trying to ignore the women purposely bumping into him, Wahlberg downed Bud Light, while Connolly copped to a relationship with Hilton. "Yes, Nicky's my girlfriend," he told us. Meanwhile, magician David Blaine whipped out a deck of cards to impress a bevy of models with his sleight-of-hand. In the end, alas, phone numbers did not magically appear. The bored-looking beauties thanked him when the show was over and walked away, leaving Blaine and a pal standing alone, shuffling cards.
IL SOLE, L.A., DEC. 15 While waiting for the bathroom, Sheryl Crow and Lance Armstrong kill time by making out passionately after dinner at the Italian eatery. The next day, their culinary canoodling continues over lunch at the Ivy.... CHI, L.A., DEC. 20 Leonardo DiCaprio sips vodka and Red Bulls with friends in a booth near the fire pit perch of Alias's Michael Vartan, who's now a regular at the restaurant-club.... E. SHAVER BOOKSELLERS, SAVANNAH, GA., DEC. 22 Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner browse the shelves before Affleck pays for a stack of books including Savannah Revisited: History & Architecture and a biography of John Adams.... THE LOYAL ORDER OF THE MOOSE, DOYLESTOWN, PA., DEC. 23 At a bar in her hometown, Pink surprises fellow patrons by jumping onstage to sing Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart" with the local band performing that night.
