She thought they were just going to Carmel, Calif., for a romantic weekend getaway, but Christina Aguilera's boyfriend Jordan Bratman had a surprise in mind. On Friday, Feb. 11, when the couple returned from a six-course dinner, she found he had filled their hotel room with rose petals, red and pink balloons, and gift boxes, each containing a present and a self-penned poem. "When I got to the last box," she says, "there was a ring in it. I was so surprised! It's classic, but it has a rock and roll feeling." The couple hasn't set a wedding date yet, but Bratman has been planning for a long time: He secretly began meeting with London jeweler Stephen Webster (a favorite of Aguilera's—and of Jennifer Lopez's and Madonna's) months ago to have the five-carat-diamond-and-platinum ring designed. "He got down on one knee and said, Will you do me the honor of being my wife?' " says Aguilera, 24, who met the 27-year-old music executive through a producer friend in 2002. "I've been floating ever since."
