American Beauties Pose in Calvin Klein for Rocker Bryan Adams—and Breast Cancer
When actors, musicians, fashion and flashbulbs join forces, it's usually a red-carpet affair. But when singer Bryan Adams turned his lens on celebrities swathed in Calvin Klein, things were decidedly more low-key. "Jennifer Aniston was shot in a parking lot," says Adams. So were Scarlett Johansson and Lindsay Lohan. Gwyneth Paltrow "was photographed in my kitchen," he adds. And Hilary Swank? "I got to her house, moved furniture and did the shoot in 10 minutes." Adams has teamed with the design house to shoot more than 90 notables, including actresses, athletes and socialites, for American Women, his third book benefiting breast cancer patients, due out this month. Many of the models have been touched by the disease in some way, as has Adams, whose friend Donna died from it in 1998. "She wasn't a celebrity. She was just a mom with two kids," he says of the woman he now calls his muse. "Her last e-mail to me was, 'I hope you sell a lot of books.' "
