Actor Greg Kinnear (Auto Focus), 40, and his wife, Helen, 33, a freelance writer, welcomed their first child, daughter Lily, on Sept. 12 in L.A. The couple wed in 1999.

EXPECTING
Oscar-winning actress Marlee Matlin (The West Wing) and her husband of 10 years, L.A. detective Kevin Grandalski, both 38, are expecting their fourth child in January. The couple are parents to Sarah, 7; Brandon, 3; and Tyler, 1.

CANCELED
Singer Jewel recently called off her upcoming 16-city North American tour after her bassist, Terome "T-Bone" Hannon, 39, died of a stroke on Sept. 4 in Detroit. The tour was scheduled to begin Sept. 19.

SUED

On Sept. 8 in L.A., toymaker Wham-O sued Paramount for using the Slip 'N Slide outdoor water game in the movie Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star without permission. Wham-O claims that the film shows star David Spade, 39, misusing the product (in one scene, he pours vegetable oil on the toy, then slides into a fence). The company says it fears that children may hurt themselves by copying scenes from the film. A rep for Paramount called the suit "without merit."...

Apple Corps, the record company owned by the former Beatles, sued Apple Computer on July 4 in London for allegedly breaking a 1991 agreement that prevented the computer manufacturer from using the apple logo with a music business. The music label wants a portion of the millions that the high-tech firm has made since the April launch of its online iTunes Music store. In a statement, a rep for Apple Computer said the companies "need to ask a court to resolve this dispute."

DEATHS

Jaclyn Linetsky, 17, who provided the voice of Caillou, the bald 4-year-old boy featured in the popular animated series for preschoolers, died on Sept. 8 following a car crash in Quebec. Caillou, which started as a book series in 1987, is produced by Canadian company CINAR and shown on PBS in the U.S....

Actor Larry Hovis, 67, best known as Sergeant Carter on the 1960s TV series Hogan's Heroes, died of cancer on Sept. 9 in Austin, Texas....

Cartoonist Warren Kremer, 82, who created "poor little rich boy" Richie Rich and modified Casper the Friendly Ghost to make him more cherubic, died of undisclosed causes on July 24 in Glen Ridge, N.J.
