FAREWELL TO FRIENDS
I became hooked on Friends with the first episode. It took a while longer to get my mother to that point. But once she was, it became a weekly Thursday-night ritual for us to watch together. And during her nine-month bout with cancer prior to her death, it was the one show she tried never to miss. Thanks, Friends, for giving her relief.

Please make them go away! It's been nine years too long.
Pam Stone

It's great to see how far the Friends have all come. I've faithfully watched week after week and dread the final episode. Thanks for keeping us laughing the last nine years.

MOSBY'S MURDER
Thanks for "Unleashed Fury," the story about the murdered town mascot Mosby. People need to know there are consequences for animal abuse. You have furthered our society by printing this article.
Dawn Lawson

I am grieving the loss of Mosby, the malamute-husky mix who was allegedly killed by James Coleman. This man performed a most heinous act and showed no respect for the life of this beautiful dog or its loving owners. Hopefully, for once, justice will prevail and will show this man and others that this will no longer be tolerated.
Diane Mitchell

I'm so glad to hear that Virginia has charged Mosby's accused killer with a felony. It has taken too long for the government to realize that some of people's best friends have four legs, tails and wet noses. My condolences to the Adams family and to the town of Staunton.

James Coleman should receive a sentence harsher than five years and a fine of $2,500 if convicted for shooting
Mosby. There is no excuse for this.

AT A MEDICAL PREMIUM
Hooray for Kevin Brendan Forbes! Finally someone has stood up to fight against the ultra-inflated medical costs for the people in this country. I fantasized about doing this but never had the stamina or the guts. Americans stand proud on fighting for human and animal rights. We should all join hands and shout, "We're not going to take this anymore!"

NEW LEASE ON LIFE
I just read your article "The Home Maker." What an inspiration Alice Coles, who's rebuilding her town, should be to all of us. Now there's a lady with a can-do attitude. If we all contributed to our communities in the same way, what an incredible world this would be. You go, girl, and never let anyone tell you it can't be done. You're living proof of that.

POLYGAMY PARADISE
Let me get this straight: Old men start a new religion in Colorado City, Ariz., so they can have sex with young girls? This is not religion, it's pedophilia. Maybe the state needs to start prosecution at home and put in jail the parents who are giving their little girls over to these perverts.
Pat O'Malley
Poulsbo, Wash.
HATS OFF TO A TOUGH DUFFY
I applaud Karen Duffy for bearing with the pain and enduring her eight-year battle with sarcoidosis. Having this disorder myself, I know the frustrations she has encountered. It takes courage to keep smiling while rolling with the hard punches this disease throws. I'm certain her pain will be lessened with the joys of motherhood. Congratulations to Karen and her supportive husband, John Lambros.

THE O'REILLY FACTOR
Kyle Smith writes, "This review isn't personal, Bill." However, two paragraphs of his review were about his problems with Mr. O'Reilly, and the entire text was colored by his opinion of the author. Perhaps your readers would be better served by choosing someone who is capable of writing an objective review.
