EXPECTING
The Daily Show host Jon Stewart, 41, and his wife of five years, Tracey, 36, announced that they are expecting their first child in mid-July.

Actress Jill Whelan, 37, who played Captain Stubing's daughter Vicki on The Love Boat (1979-86), married Michael Chaykowsky, 41, a school operations director, on April 2 in Fort Lauderdale aboard a cruise ship. Whelan's former castmates Gavin MacLeod and Bernie Kopell were among the guests at the wedding, which was broadcast live on the Internet. This is the second marriage for both.

On April 5 celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito filed a countersuit against investors in Rocco's, his Manhattan eatery and the subject of the NBC reality series The Restaurant, accusing them of false accounting and cutting him out of the business in a dispute over earnings. DiSpirito, 37, was sued in February by China Grill Management (CGM), who claim to have lost more than $600,000 due to DiSpirito's poor management. A lawyer for CGM said, "The allegation about the accounting is categorically false, and he has access to the restaurant."...

On March 31 in New York City, attorneys for Martha Stewart filed a petition for a new trial, claiming juror Chappell Hartridge, 47, failed to disclose an arrest on charges of assault. Stewart, 62, was convicted March 5 of obstructing justice and lying about her sale of a biotech stock just before it plunged in price. Her lawyers say that Hartridge, who called the guilty verdict "a victory for the little guy," showed a clear bias against Stewart that damaged her right to a fair trial. A rep for Hartridge could not be reached for comment.

AILING
On April 1 veteran sportscaster Pat Summerall was hospitalized in Jacksonville, Fla., where he is awaiting a donor organ for a liver transplant. The 73-year-old former NFL kicker "is in good spirits," says a family spokesman.

DEATHS
On March 28 British actor, author and playwright Peter Ustinov, 82, died of undisclosed causes at his home in Switzerland. Ustinov, who appeared in more than 80 films, won Best Supporting Actor Oscars for his roles in 1960's Spartacus and 1964's Topkapi, but was best known for his portrayal of Agatha Christie's sleuth Hercule Poirot in such films as Death on the Nile.
