Polished to a Sheen
Radiating cool elegance and subtle style, stars like Rebecca Romijn-Stamos are aglow in silk and satin champagne-hued frocks. It's a quieter, softer side of glamor that's a smooth and sleek alternative to red-carpet doses of razzle-dazzle. PALE TRAIL The freshest way to wear this look is in neutral tones, but it's okay to give it a twist—like Sheryl Crow's turquoise strap or Sharon Stone's silk georgette bust detail. In other words, keep it simple but let a little diva dressing shine through.

WHAT WAS SHE THINKING?
Kim Cattrall (in Manhattan) has gone logo loco. But logomania, so five minutes ago, could use a few more years in the back of the closet before it's retro cool again.

DOUBLE AGENT: For his comedy Romance & Cigarettes, director John Turturro wanted Kate Winslet to play a shop girl from the lacy, racy lingerie store Agent Provocateur. But getting the Vivienne Westwood-designed uniform was a bit of a costume drama—it's strictly for employees. After some high-level diplomacy, Agent owners Joseph Corre (Westwood's son) and Serena Rees agreed to loan one. Great disguise, Kate....

MOTHER NOSE BEST: Crying, dirty diapers—who couldn't use a relaxing scent-sation in the baby's nursery? Courteney Cox Arquette and Sarah Jessica Parker (who used it in her hospital room) bought Alora's air freshener with its soothing essential oils and wooden wicking sticks. Now if it could just get the babies to sleep....

BEACHY CLEAN: Last August Bobbi Brown and her son were at a New Jersey park when they happened upon Cerise Clindinin, who was selling her homemade soaps. Brown was so impressed that she hired Clindinin to create and produce a soap for Brown's In Sun Beach Collection. The finished product is called Sandbar and is made with real sand for exfoliation. BALLET FLATS

So many models and actresses are flat-footing it around town that they must be trying to make a pointe—ballet flats are a cool, casual and comfortable way to go. From Sophie Dahl's pretty pink pair to Kirsten Dunst's metallic flats, these low heels are high fashion.

BROWN-DYED GIRLS
Whether it's for a movie, an image change or to distinguish yourself from your famous sister, nothing elicits a double-take like a dye job. Ashlee Simpson and Mischa Barton made the leap to brown (like Julia Roberts and Lisa Kudrow) just for something different. But here's guessing their colorist is on speed dial.

Dazzling Doodles

Designer Judith Leiber, whose bags are carried by Renée Zellweger and Jennifer Lopez, can make art out of anything—including your child's drawing. She'll create a crystal minaudière replica and donate part of the proceeds to a children's cancer charity. (It's a lot lighter to carry than the fridge.)

The Children's Art Bag starts at $2,995 and takes 6-8 weeks to produce; 866-542-7167.
