Despite reports of Paris Hilton's empathetic words for Nicole Richie's split from DJAM, Paris was happy to slag her former BFF in January's Ocean Drive Magazine without naming her. According to Hilton, after sister Nicky nixed costarring in the “cheesy reality show” The Simple Life, FOX “had to settle for this other idiot. Ahem.” Some of Paris's current pals also take a hit. “I don't trust any of these other girls, especially in L.A.,” says Hilton. “They don't want the best for me like Nicky does. They get jealous of my success.”
FLOCKING TO FLORIDA FOR NEW YEAR'S
Come Dec. 31, Las Vegas may see Nicky Hilton and boyfriend Kevin Connolly popping a $100,000 mega-magnum of Cristal at Pure, and N.Y.C's got Mariah Carey and Ryan Seacrest co-toasting 2006 at Cipriani 42nd Street. But I hear South Beach will be “Auld Lang Syne” central. On Dec. 29 at the Raleigh Hotel, nightlife gurus Amanda Scheer-Demme (L.A.'s Tropicana Bar), Ingrid Casares (Miami's Liquid) and Scott Sartiano and Richie Akiva (N.Y.C.'s Butter) plan to host a VIP dinner for Lindsay Lohan, Diddy and others. Two days later, Scott and Richie will throw a feast at Sky Bar, where John Stamos and Amanda Bynes are expected to nosh Nobu-style before the all-night bash at Shore Club. Over at Asian-themed The Setai, Marquee's Noah Tepperberg and Jason Strauss hope to lure Kirsten Dunst and Mischa Barton with chauffeured Jaguars, homemade truffles and a one-night-only $24,000 dance platform built atop the pool. Happy New Year!
When Macy Gray sang her hits Dec. 11 at Crustacean to raise money for her music school, she joined the growing roster of artists who have sprung exclusive shows on the Beverly Hills restaurant. Faith Hill, Stevie Wonder and Billy Joel have all dropped by for shows, and regular patrons run from Joni Mitchell to Beyoncé. The “Crustacean Live” shows—along with its garlic noodles and glass-covered aquarium walkway—are a Young Hollywood magnet: Cameron Diaz, Nicole Richie and Mischa Barton all came out for Gray.
