EDIE'S TRASHY MOMENT
New episodes of The Sopranos haven't aired since June 2004—the new season returns March 12—but in the meantime fans certainly haven't forgotten Carmela, the fierce Mafia wife played by Edie Falco. "I was in a parking lot at a mall in New Jersey," says the actress, 42, "and a group of women who looked very much like Carmela invited me to a pajama party. I thought, "These women have no idea who I really am.' I declined." Not that having an alter ego isn't fun sometimes. In New York City, where she lives, "I was out walking my dog early one morning," says Falco, who is currently starring in the drama Freedomland with Julianne Moore. "As I clean up his poop and head to the garbage, the truck pulls up. The driver yells, "Hey, Carmela, I heard you don't take crap from anybody.' I looked at him and the two of us just cracked up. I thought, 'Who has a better life than me?'"
BUILT FORD TOUGH
Playing the villain in the new thriller Firewall, Paul Bettany had trouble getting through to costar Harrison Ford. While filming a fight scene with Ford, "I smacked him in the stomach," says Bettany, 34. "Albeit, he's wearing padding. He told me, "Listen, I'm not feeling it, can you hit me harder?' So I hit him harder, and he went, 'I still can't.' This went on and on, so finally I just wound one up on him and let loose. I gave him my best shot and he just went, 'That's it?' It was so humiliating."
THREE QUESTIONS FOR ...
KELLY ROWLAND
Currently starring in the comedy The Seat Filler, out on DVD Feb. 21.
1 DOES ANYONE EVER MISTAKE YOU FOR SOMEONE ELSE?
Yes [fellow Destiny's Child member], Michelle [Williams]. I just say, "Wrong one."
2 ARE YOU CURRENTLY SEEING ANYONE?
No. I want to spend time by myself. I don't want a Mr. Right Now. I want Mr. Right.
3 ANY BAD HABITS MR. RIGHT SHOULD KNOW ABOUT?
I burp so loud. I'm recording my sophomore record right now, and the producers are shocked when they come in and I'm in the booth burping this manly, ferocious burp that comes through the big speakers.
