Actor Tom Cavanagh (Love Monkey), 37, and his wife, Maureen, 35, a deputy photo editor at SPORTS ILLUSTRATED, welcomed their first child, Alice Ann, Feb. 10 in New York City. They wed in 2004.... Actor Danny Pino, 31, who plays Det. Scotty Valens on Cold Case, and his wife, Lilly, welcomed their first child, a boy, Luca Daniel, Feb. 15 in L.A.
Singer Suzanne Vega, 46, best known for her hits "Luka" and "Tom's Diner," married Paul Mills, 54, a lawyer, Feb. 11 in New York City. Though Mills popped the question in 1983, Vega wasn't ready to tie the knot. After ending a marriage to someone else in 2002, she reconnected with Mills last October and finally said yes to his proposal 22 years later on Christmas Day 2005.
On Feb. 21 in New York, Lucyna Turyk-Wawrynowicz, the maid who pleaded guilty to stealing a pair of $95,500 earrings from Robert De Niro's wife, Grace Hightower, when she worked for them last year, was sentenced to one to three years in prison. A rep for the actor had no comment.
Vili Fualaau, 22, the husband of Mary Kay Letourneau, 44, the former teacher who served seven years in prison for child rape after engaging in a sexual relationship with Fualaau when he was her student, could face up to a year in jail for allegedly driving drunk Dec. 22 in SeaTac, Wash. Fualaau, who fathered two children with Letourneau before they married last May, was stopped for allegedly speeding but was charged with DUI after a Breathalyzer test revealed his blood alcohol level was over the legal limit, according to authorities.
William Cowsill, 58, frontman for the family pop band the Cowsills, died recently in Calgary, Alta. After scoring hits like "The Rain, the Park and Other Things" and "Hair" in the late '60s, the family ensemble—made up of William, his brothers Barry, Bob, John and Paul, sister Susan and mom Barbara—was the inspiration for the '70s TV show The Partridge Family. Relatives received word of William's death just as they were memorializing Barry Cowsill, the band's bassist, whose body was found in New Orleans Dec. 28 in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.... Richard Bright, 68, who played mobster Al Neri in all three of the Godfather films, was hit and killed by a bus Feb. 18 in Manhattan. More recently, Bright was a frequent guest star on Law & Order and appeared on its spinoffs.... Sportscaster Curt Gowdy, 86, died of leukemia Feb. 20 in Palm Beach, Fla. Gowdy, well-loved for his warmth and accessibility, was the announcer for the Boston Red Sox for more than a decade and went on to cover numerous World Series and Super Bowls.
