HEATHER AND RICHIE

How sad it was to read about Heather Locklear and Richie Sambora's breakup. I just can't see Richie wanting anyone who would send e-mails of themselves to a married man. He has a class-A wife, so why would he mess that up? I hope Heather doesn't let this bimbo ruin their family. Please seek marriage counseling, and don't let her win.

I know there are two sides to every story. But if you have that much love and respect for each other, how about waiting [to announce the separation] until Richie comes off his world tour with Bon Jovi so the man can have time to grieve or regroup, not while he's out on the road performing in front of thousands of people. He has my sympathies.

Three years ago, on a Hawaiian vacation, I had the pleasure of spending time with the Sambora family. One of my daughters is the same age as their daughter Ava. I was able to witness not only how much both Heather and Richie adore their daughter, but what a great team they made as parents. Ava was unspoiled, polite and extremely well-mannered. All three of them were delightful, and I can only hope that the press gives them space to handle their issues privately. I wish them the best.

BRITNEY AND BABY

If it's true that Britney was driving around with her baby on her lap, then shame on her for trying to defend this action. Would it be worse to have unauthorized photos taken of the baby or to have your infant injured or even killed in a car crash because he was unrestrained? Get a clue, Brit.

I was shocked to see Britney driving with her 4-month-old in her lap, but as a parent I understand you will do anything to protect your child. So for those ridiculing her, why don't you ridicule the paparazzi? Britney is a mom like many of us. I'm sure she didn't ask to have a camera in her face when she was trying to get coffee.

DOGGIE DRUG MULES

To expose innocent puppies to such a horrific and life-threatening ordeal [as smuggling drugs in their bellies] is nothing short of unimaginable cruelty. As an animal lover, owner of four dogs and a supporter of animal-support groups, I cannot imagine anyone treating our four-legged friends in such a way. Let animal lovers devise the punishment for these detestable people.

Many readers were moved by the story of Jonathon Connolly, the 6-year-old boy who suffers from epidermolysis bullosa, a rare genetic disorder that makes his skin delicate and dangerously susceptible to cuts and blisters.
