SNEAK PREVIEW

The girl group in Dreamgirls sounds a lot like the Supremes: A trio shoots to '60s stardom, then crashes when the lead singer decides to go it alone. The screen version of the 1981 Broadway hit (due in December) "speaks to a contemporary audience," says producer Laurence Mark, "with its themes of fame and what you give up for it and the notion of manufacturing stars."
