Hugh Jackman has found a role he can sink his claws into: X-Men: The Last Stand's moody mutant Wolverine. "As a youngster, I had a bad temper," he says. "It would come out all of a sudden because I was the youngest of five, so I had no power." Alas, with age came calm. "I don't have a bad temper now, so when I'm playing Wolverine I train every morning [to seem] like I could go berserk at any time," says the 37-year-old actor. "If you saw me, you'd be frightened. I turn up Godsmack or Metallica, and I'm screaming and swearing like there's no tomorrow, and lifting weights as though I'm at that breaking point. It's good therapy."
PLEASING POP
Forget critics—actress Anne Hathaway hopes for parental approval. "Whenever I kiss boys or wake up with a hangover, just having made love to someone [onscreen], I worry a little bit about what my dad's gonna say," says Hathaway, 23, of her attorney father. But the actress, whose comedy The Devil Wears Prada opens June 30, can now breathe easy. "After Brokeback Mountain," she says, "he's okay with just about everything!"
THREE QUESTIONS FOR ... LINDSAY LOHAN
1. HOW DID YOU PREPARE FOR YOUR ROLE IN CHAPTER 27, THE UPCOMING DRAMA ABOUT JOHN LENNON'S ASSASSINATION?
I sat down with Yoko Ono because it's a touchy subject and I wanted the okay from her. I was like, I need to wear something Yoko would wear, so I wore all black. I walked in and we were wearing almost the same thing, I swear to God. I nearly died. But she was so sweet.
2. WHAT'S YOUR WORKOUT REGIMEN?
I like doing push-ups. I'll just drop and do them. People think I'm a little bit crazy for it, but I've gotten pretty good.
3. DO YOU HAVE ANY PET PEEVES?
I'm psychotic when it comes to hats on the bed. It's bad luck! For some reason, everyone puts their hat on my bed. I need to put a sign up in my room.
