Law & Order: SVU's Mariska Hargitay, 42, and her husband, Peter Hermann, 38, a regular guest star on the NBC drama, welcomed their first child, a son named August, in L.A. June 28. "Mother and baby are doing wonderfully," says Hargitay's rep.... The Daily Show correspondent Rob Corddry, 35, reports that his new daughter, Sloane Sullivan Corddry, with wife Sandra, 32, "is showing signs of early genius." Born July 3 in New York City, Sloane is the couple's first child.
Lost's Emilie de Ravin told PEOPLE in March she would never have a large wedding, and true to her word, she wed actor Josh Janowicz (The Chumscrubber) June 19 in an intimate ceremony in Melbourne. The Aussie native and Janowicz, both 24, had dated four years.
On July 1, film critic Roger Ebert, 64, underwent emergency surgery in Chicago to repair complications from an earlier cancer operation. Now in stable condition, the cohost of television's Ebert & Roeper has now been operated on four times for cancer of the thyroid and salivary glands. "Roger is improving each day," says his wife, Chaz Ebert. "[His doctors] are optimistic about his recovery."... On June 29, former Baywatch star David Hasselhoff discovered a lesser-known hazard of shaving: While tending to his stubble in the bathroom of a London gym, he hit his head on a chandelier, showering his arm with shards of glass. The actor, 54, suffered a severed tendon and spent the night at a local hospital after surgery to repair the right limb. "He's fine," said his rep.
Cameraman Joshua Levine filed a police report June 29 against Woody Harrelson regarding an altercation that was caught on video and posted on the Web site he works for, TMZ.com. Levine claims that while he was filming the actor's exit from an L.A. club, Harrelson asked him to stop; when he refused, Harrelson allegedly tried to choke him. The LAPD is investigating. "Unfortunately, this is not the first or last time the paparazzi have provoked an incident with a celebrity," said the actor's rep. "Mr. Harrelson is evaluating all of his legal options against the photographer."
LIL' KIM OUT IN LIL' TIME
How did the rapper celebrate the Fourth of July? By getting out of prison early: On July 3, she was released from the Philadelphia Federal Detention Center after serving just under 10 months (she had been sentenced to 12 months and a day) for lying about a 2001 gunfight involving members of her entourage (PEOPLE, April 4, 2005). "She has accepted responsibility and handled herself in an exemplary manner," her lawyer said in a statement. Outside the prison, Lil' Kim, 32—who will spend the next month under house arrest, and has three years of probation—greeted fans before taking off in a silver Rolls-Royce.
