The Year in Babies
Meet the Stars of Really Young Hollywood. Plus: What's Hot with Celebrity Tots
Whether in Burberry plaid near Berlin or polka dots in Paris, the always chic 19-month-old daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes steals the spotlight from her famous folks.
That hair, those sunglasses! Even at 18 months, the son of Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale looks like a true rock star in training, bypassing traditional toddler attire in favor of camo hats, a studded belt and mixed prints. Rock on, little Kingston, rock on!
MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED
No surprise here: Donald and Melania Trump's 20-month-old son already knows what he wants—and how to get it. "He loves toys that you learn from," says Melania. "He loves books; he's telling me what he wants to read."
Terrible twos? Not for her. Riding high in dad Ben Affleck's arms or in the park with mom Jennifer Garner, the 2-year-old is all smiles. "She is happy as hell," Affleck recently told Parade. "All I want to do is go home, just to be around her again."
It's no accident that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's brood—Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 2, and Shiloh, 18 months—seem to jet around the world with ease. "We've tried to make them very adaptable," says Jolie, "so when we go to a country like India or Namibia, they're happy to play with sticks and rocks outside—they're happy to blend."
The 2-year-old became an Internet sensation last spring for cussing out Will Ferrell in the video short The Landlord. Her dad, Ferrell pal and director Adam McKay, channeled Pearl for a quick Q&A:
Will we see you in any more videos?
No. I'm no do the videos anymore. I go to preschool and learn to swim and watch Curious George.
What did you think of all the attention?
I was in no way aware of it. I'm 2. People always give me attention and kisses on the cheeks and belly. I like ponies.
Why did you just say, "I like ponies"?
'Cause I like ponies. But I didn't ask you about ponies. I LIKE PONIES!!!!!!!!
A peek inside the havens of Hollywood babies
Savage and wife Jenny wanted son Oliver, 16 months, to have a space that was modern but also cozy, says designer Wendy Bellissimo. The answer? A safari-themed design in hues of blue and chocolate. "We used a lot of animals. It has to be fun for the baby."
For twin daughters Savannah and Eden, 9 months, designer Annette Tatum mixed polka dots with florals and used changing tables that doubled as dressers to create a functional and not-too-frilly look. Says Cross: "It's the most gorgeous room in our house."
SEAN "DIDDY" COMBS
"Diddy didn't want it to be too babyish," says designer Shalena Smith of the pale pinks, greens and creams tapped for the nursery of twin girls D'Lila and Jessie, 11 months. Adding to the dreamlike theme: a wall-size mural.
At just 6 months, O'Dell's daughter Ashby has a closet fuller than Mom's. "She has about 200 outfits," says O'Dell. Lest they overtake the room, Mom quickly donates items Ashby outgrows to charity, "but I've taken a picture of her in every single outfit so she'll always remember wearing them!"

Growing Up Green
These tots make saving the planet look like child's play
In Hollywood, green parenting isn't just about cloth diapers and hybrid cars. Moms like Kellie Martin are also thinking green when it comes to baby food. "I try to cook everything myself," says Martin, 32, mom to Maggie, 1 (dad is Keith Christian, 33, a lawyer). "That way, I don't throw away any containers and I know exactly what she eats." That means 100% organic food, whole grains and "absolutely no sugar," says the actress, who says Maggie most appreciates her pureed sweet potatoes and pear oatmeal muffins. "I hope if I give her a good start, she will make healthy choices later in life."
Homemade baby food doesn't have to be time consuming, says Martin. The actress suggests steaming organic vegetables—favorites include butternut squash and zucchini—and freezing pureed portions in ice cube trays. "I pop them out the night before for next day's lunch," she says. "It's easy, healthy and Maggie loves it!"

Brooke Shields goes for chic over cutesy hosting a baby shower for pal Kim Raver
As a second-time mom, Kim Raver knew what she wanted—and what she didn't—from her baby shower. "I did that oohing and aahing the first time around," says Raver, 40, whose second son, Leo, joined brother Luke, 5, and her husband, filmmaker Manu Boyer, on Oct. 9. "I wanted one that was really different." So, like many Hollywood moms, Raver and longtime friend Brooke Shields, who hosted the Sept. 27 fete, decided against a "typical Sunday shower" in favor of a sophisticated cocktail party. "People have more fun at evening showers," says celebrity party planner Colin Cowie, who decorated Shields's SoHo loft with green and purple instead of traditional pink and blue. "You can put on heels, get dressed up and go enjoy cocktails." "The party had to be earthy and sexy," adds Shields. "There's very little that's frilly about Kim!"
