The new arrival joins big brother Marco, 4.... The St. Charles County, Mo., prosecutor's office announced Dec. 3 that no criminal charges will be filed in the case of 13-year-old Megan Meier's October 2006 suicide (PEOPLE, Dec. 3, 2007). Meier's parents, Ron and Tina, both 37, said she hanged herself in her bedroom at her Dardenne Prairie, Mo., home after receiving taunting messages on the social networking Web site MySpace. Officials said the evidence did not meet the state's legal standards for either harassment, stalking or child endangerment. "We were certainly hopeful that there was going to be some sort of prosecution," Tina said. "But I'm certainly not surprised."
Dennis Quaid, 53, and wife Kimberly, 36, whose newborn twins received a massive overdose of the blood thinner heparin, filed a product-liability suit in Cook County, Ill., Dec. 4 against Baxter Healthcare Corporation, the drug's manufacturer. On Nov. 18 the couple's son Thomas and daughter Zoe, then 10 days old, were given 1,000 times the recommended amount of the anti-coagulant at an L.A. hospital when nurses mistook the bottle for a similar one with a lower dose. The twins have since returned home fully recovered, after spending time in intensive care. A Baxter spokeswoman said, "This is not a product issue; the issue here is improper use of a product." ... Authorities found no traces of pepper spray in the dress and makeup of Miss Puerto Rico Universe winner Ingrid Marie Rivera (inset), 24. The pageant's security director claimed Rivera's belongings were sabotaged during the Nov. 23 San Juan contest, causing her to break out in hives. The investigation will now focus on whether false statements were provided to police (a felony). The pageant's owner said, "We stand by our story."
Iraq War vet Ty Ziegel, 25, whose ears, lips and most of his nose were burned away in a December 2004 car-bomb attack, split from his wife, Renee, 22, in September, he recently announced. Ty, who also lost an arm below the elbow and the sight in one eye, married his Washington, Ill., hometown sweetheart in October 2006 (PEOPLE, Nov. 13, 2006). "It was a mutual decision, and we still communicate, and we are still friends," Ty tells PEOPLE. Renee, who has moved back in with her mother and works as a county police dispatcher, had no comment.
